sgr
For some reason Engine-Motion-Motion works and last motion got powered, but Engine-Motion-Switch-Motion doesn't. There will be no power on switch. Why? I tried to make door with 2 motion sensors, and a switch that turns 1 sensor off. So door would close, but if I accidentally fall of the roof my other sensor could still open the door. Is that possible?
theFlu
EDIT: darnit, the original looked terrible, sorry Short answer, the 1st camera will only power the switch while triggered (as in, while it sees you). If there's no power to the switch, there can be no power to the second camera. So you've accidentally ran into a situation where both cameras need to activate to activate the door. For a system that closes the door while you're inside, you can set a pressure plate at the door to open it from the inside.. that way you can run at the door and it will open. It will open for zeds that are leaving as well, but usually that shouldn't be an issue... I'll hide my original attempt at a more generic answer in here.. There's several different types of components in the electrical system; at least - Power sources - Power relays (relays, Switches) - the actual consumers (traps, doors) are essentially in the relays category (you can chain them like any other relays) - Triggers (motion sensor, trip wire, etc) If you chain triggers, any one of them "firing" will give power to the next Relay in the chain. So any attached triggers will always work as one and activate whatever non-trigger component comes after the triggers. That component (relay) will then power whatever comes after it. If it's a trap, it'll activate. If it is another trigger chain - in your case the camera after the switch - it will only activate the trigger. The trigger will be "fired" as per normal (only as long as the previous relay has power), so in your case the 2nd camera would need to see you as well. If receiving power is not enough, but it should actually see me to power pass through, why Motion-Motion-Door works? Second motion can't see me. theFlu
It's kinda in the spoiler.. any triggers attached to one another (several cameras in a chain) will give power through the entire trigger chain to the next non-trigger component. They also power each other regardless of their triggering.
