I think the infection mechanic might be a little unfair to new players because cures are somewhat uncommon, I don't think the game ever tells you to look for stumps (I learned that here)

Established a new base at POI with dog kennels and tunnels under POi.  Well defended sturdy other than the tunnels. One block down from Jen's place.

 

Need to move my stuff from previous POI, burned up house.  Nice, but don't trust the block pheeseeks right now.

 

I had cleared the poi the night before, pop from roof hatch and there is a wandering horde cruisng through the back alley.  No problem I will go out the front.

 

Figure I jump on the metal fence so the jump is not that high.  Guess what?  Razor wire is not visible from direct top view.  Damage taken, but not enough to worry at present, not interest in engaging anything at the moment.

 

Back to the roof off to the over hang for a jump point without barb wire.

 

Jump/BANG!

 

Okay I will respawn to see what killed me.

 

Go to spot.  I can confirm land mines work 😂.

 

I didn't like my first horde night anyways.  Spent buwets.  I never do.

[Metal Shipping Containers]

Dont know if a glitch in graphics or working as intended.  Decided to setup an overnighter in a shipping container.  Figure being metal and only having to cover an entry point, it would be a good temp base.

 

Then it started to rain and I was 100% wet, and started to freeze (still in forest biome, in a town edge near trader Joel).

 

Then the sun came up and it was shining through the slat in the shipping container.

 

Thoughts?  Or do I have to sit there and tell myself "Nice paintjob too bad it leaks like a seeve?"

I believe that to be true.  Atleast for a few seconds for sure.  I was running back to base one day really early in game, but forget D#.  The pack spawned like 50m in front, not sure, but effing close, I could not avoid them fast enough, but they ran past me.  Once I was the past the "oh FecalMatter" point I turned and started moving away, and they were standing there, looking the other way.

 

P.s. In General...probably because of my system, but if I am doing something and the game suddenly skips a frame I know something is spawning and for a few MSecs I wonder if it is going to be right on top of me heh.

I respawned to go look.  However, I made a critical mistake on my bed hideout.  I had fortified in case I needed to respawn in the middle of a horde night as it was inside my base.  Forgot no tools on the respawn to get out :/.  I didnt want to sit there and beat a block of cobblestone with my fists.

 

Another note on things not to do :).

I have had them stuck in to the side of the mole hill I built a base on during a blood moon.  When the sun came up it surprised me as I was running down the hill.  Killed it and filled the hole with spikes.

I spawned in the wasteland once, never could run out.

 

No hurry to get back.  I started with A20.  Still skeered.

Only bow so far, never have reach the point to making a xbow....or a wood bow for that matter.    Best I've done so far is lvl2 beginner bow and a lvl6 pipe MG on a loot drop.  I kept the MG for the Oh fecal matter moments.  Now back to Day 1 and a bow after a starvation Day 6 and too high a jump to get to the trader for some dog food.  /sigh.

 

I am getting really good at the first 6 days though :).

I changed the loot respawn rates and upped the zombies in settings prior to launching the current game.  Maybe that threw the system for spin.  Anyways,....Day 4 :).

There I was day 82, doing some base upgrades.  Supply plane comes by and no drop.  I go to my rooftop no smoke, no fire no strobe.  I figure no problem, I will just go back to my chores and look for it later.  So I am ugrading a block and  ...BAM! Insta Deth.  Dunno why, no warning, just red bloody screen.  Almost like a lag server disconnect death, but I am playing a solo game.

 

So, since I hadnt died prior to that (well except a prior unstable structure construction death :)), just wondering if there is a way to recover the game prior to that point.

 

Otherwise I will restart, handnt come across bicycle handle bars anyways.
