  1. Does anyone know why the Better Vanilla overhaul isn't working?

Yes I am running V5 of the launcher.

Yes I tried deleting/reinstalling a cpl times already.

Going to the discord doesn't help because it insists that the launcher version is the only reason BV won't start using the launcher, and to make sure I'm using version 5.

Or, barring that, does anyone have any background on whether one of the other A21 overhauls is good to play?

Edit: I'm trying to avoid having to keep changing beta versions in Steam just to reinstall each 7DTD version to play A20.7 while I'm waiting and checking for a good overhaul for A21. Having to wait for 7DTD to re-download 13GB every time I want to see if an Overhaul is worth playing is becoming...tiresome to say the least.

  2. Is there any way to make class quests run one at a time?

Just playing is completing most of them at once.

Asking because even with setting my xp down to 25%, I end up being lvl 10 or 12 by the start of day two.

By the time I get to day 7 for the first horde, my gamestage is wrecked, and I am nowhere near (playing-wise) getting the things I need to survive it.

Since these zombies are no joke, normal HBases won't work.

I really don't like having to cheat in building mats, blocks, and ammo when I can help it.

    Turn off occlusion.

The wasteland is def. far, far easier to deal with now, no longer calling in every zombie within miles while mining, and they don't instantly respawn anymore. Demon variants of zombies are spawning at a far higher rate though, on night two I had at least 3 demon zombies spawn with the rest of the radiated/feral and normal ones.

    TY much.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to jump into wasteland from the start. I ain't THAT good. :)

  4. I came across the visual glitch where assets disappear when you move around. For me it's only doing it when I face southeast, south, and southwest.

I deleted all the mod folders from before and am using the launcher.

Is there a fix for this? I can still interact with the interact-able objects like doors and such, but it starts to become very maddening, very quickly, when your movement is blocked by things like metal shelves that only show up when you look away from the direction you need to walk.

It's loaded in with the rest of the world, problem is that even if you know what to look for, they can be spawned in at the wrong heights (under the snow on the small map).

Good to know. I found a location for him on the VSm map and I'm only on day 6, lol

I'm fast-tracking a little since this isn't the final version yet, and things'll prob. change. But I'm curious about hoe *HOW* (hoe???🤣) the story unfolds.

There are three NPC called razor in the forest. I can't take their task. He said he didn't trust me

I can't find any small laboratory in the forest. What's the trick?

Need to work through the 'Scout' quests. When you do enough she'll send you to Razor.

As far as the Lab...I'm not sure if it's spawned in when needed or not, but I think the only way to get to it without wasting days looking is through Razor.

That's been an issue in since A19, possibly earlier. I had the same problem when I started playing this mod in 19.3.

What Chivalric said. It doesn't care if it's the same POI. It just picks whatever is the closest.

Isn't that a 'Working as intended' type of thing, since everyone has their own personal factions now?

I've always thought it was so I never said anything.

I just started b36 the first time. First Bug: I crafted the book for the farming quest and got two. When I craft a stone axe, i get two, if I repair a stone axe later in the belt, I get another stone axe in the inventory. Happened also with the stone hammer and maybe other crafted stuff.

Might be the Farmer line I think. Haven't run into that so far on a few of the others. (Laborer, Survivalist, Scavenger)

I've noticed in B30 and B36 on both the Vsmall and small testing maps that no trader has been giving me Buried Treasure quests. I haven't checked all of them, but at least two different traders are never giving them, even activated debug and reset the quests numerous times, still no luck. Not a big deal for me, since the fetch quest is my favorite anyhow. Just figured I'd let you know.

Is there a way of knowing the entity damage for the JT's different ammo types? Wiki has the vanilla ones listed, I'm assuming the dart trap ammo is DF specific, or hasn't been updated on the wiki. Was just wondering if it was stronger than the shotgun ammo.

I just did 2 in a row from Rekt about an hour ago, and I'm on VSmall myself atm.

@KhaineGBMaye a percentage adjustment in the quest pool (if that's even a thing)?

If your playing the Armageddon 4K DF 1.2 map (based on your earlier post), that might explain the difficulty curve you are seeing. It is all radiated wasteland (which is at least double difficult compared to forest biome; might be affecting what is spawning for your game stage). If not, maybe game stage scales differently in multi-player, not something I know much about though.

One tactic would be limiting your leveling in the first week to get your feet under you. I power leveled once too fast in a19 (killed everything in sight) and the first week horde tore through me like nothing (think I had bears and whites the first horde, maybe even a radiated, definitely some stalkers, just awful), I restarted in frustration and slowed down the leveling the first week and had no issues for the rest of that game. Either that or I started getting smarter about what I was doing with my perk points (helps to have a goal and specialize in one class I think).

Can confirm. Biome Multipliers suck at early game, and wasteland adds it's own quirks. To this day I always avoid it until I level up stats and gear first, unless I have no choice. Way too many extras the game throws at you in there.

Just dl'd the B34 files tonight, so gonna take a crack at one of the smaller maps and see what's up. After DF, vanilla seems very 'plain'. I think its the lockable storage containers (clothing racks, ammo boxes, etc) that I miss the most, they just fit so well at home base and make sorting stuff a bit more interesting than labeled boxes. That and DF gives you a tangible goal to strive for (close the lab portal).

Hope you get back to feeling normal soon. I'm not looking forward to my upcoming booster vaccine, the last dose took me out for almost 2 days.

Looking forward to the next YT test play video when you get around to it. Always nice to see an author play their own creation.

    ---

FYI, while loading this map: https://www.nexusmods.com/7daystodie/mods/1845?tab=description

These two POI's seem to be missing (using the B34 DF files).

    DF_Map_Multi_Trader (-55, 52)
    DF_Map_house_modern_18 (-58, -58)

Not your issue (not your map after all), but you might get an inquiry about them eventually. Only reason I bring it to your attention is these POI's start with "DF_", so might be something you touched/removed at some point. I did log a bug report with the map author via Nexus so they should become aware of it eventually.

If you're using a different platform, sorry for the mix-up.

Are the build version numbers going backwards now? I'm using B36 that I got yesterday @1:30pm (forum time):

    way longer than 7hrs ago.

Are the normal in game textures supposed to take a hit graphically? Seems like they are extremely low quality and if you didn't know what they were from playing, you'd have no chance of reading them. Everything that has been added in looks amazing but anything that is vanilla just looks like out of focus blobs. Seem to only run into this issue with this modpack/overhaul. I've tried lowering the graphic settings for textures all the way to low, quitting out, and then restarting and going back up to high, but the vanilla textures still look horrific. I'm not trying to be rude about this or trying to attack your work. I'm just curious about this. Really want to play this mod and that's just something that's very noticeable.

It's been on a few other packs as well (mostly A19)

It's basically every dynamic block that can be down-graded.

Some packs haven't had this issue probably due to whatever they happen to add as custom dynamic items. **though a cpl packs have had perfect custom assets and still had low res. on vanilla ones.**

I'm afraid (as far as I know) there is no real way to guarantee permanent improvement without doing an overhaul of one mechanic or another in the base game itself.

Unless there is a modder out there that knows a way to optimize rendering somehow.

    Obviously not me :(

  11. Mini Miner needs fixing. I built it and as soon as I put it on my hotbar, I get a streaming red console error that I can only alt+F4 to do anything.

Needless to say, this happened yesterday, and even now loading my world starts with this.

Is there a way to get my save back, or do I have to start over again?

I don't know if i'm just bloody blind, or what, but I can't seem to find tungsten mineable nodes anywhere. I've found the orange, blue, and green(?) aboveground combination nodes, as well as some assorted tungsten randomly from mining the aboveground bit, but nothing else. what am i missing? :(

Not sure if there even is a node for it, however I have seen red nodes in the burned biome. I've mined 3 and have gotten different resources each time (not much Tungsten at all though). Although I HAVE gotten a noticeable amount of Tungsten, scrap as well as ore, from mining the 'Pyramid' looking deposits in every biome. (Differing resource type in each block-size) Also you can get Gold, Silver, and Diamonds from those too, as well as a few Geodes each time which I've gotten some nice profit for the rare bits within them.

Edit: After some checking of nodes I've found that the ones that are so black they look to have a blueish tinge to them in the wooded biome, those ones give small bits of other materials, but scrap tungsten as a main drop.

    Hi Gidaeon

If you didn't find it in recipes.xml, try looking for it in loot.xml or traders.xml, maybe not crafting just for loot or traders.
    Hope that helps you.
    Regards

I'm guessing it's listed under a different name. I was able to both loot and buy from a trader, but when I do a specific Ctrl+F search for Zinc and/or Powder in their respective .xml nothing shows up for Zinc, and only potassium and gunpowder shows for Powder search.

    *Using Notepad++*

I've also checked: Items, Materials, Misc and Recipes, and nothing is showing up in those either.

But as long as I remember that zinc powder IS available through Trade and Loot, at least I won't have to grab a stack from the CM just to complete the Vitamins part of quests, or the few other medical items that need it.

  14. I might have missed this somewhere, but since the only references to this I can find is a question from 2017, I'm not so sure.

How do I get Zinc Powder?

I've done searches in this topic and I can't even find an answer to the original question either.

Have I missed something, or are ppl just cheating it in because nobody can find any other way to get it?

I know it's a needed resource, but I can't find it in any crafting menu.

    Hello,

your mods looks very good but i have a problem. when i use the download link in this post, i  move to a other side (https://rmacleod.visualstudio.com/AOO) and gain this message.

    Repository "AOO_Alpha_Latest" is disabled
This repository has been disabled. Please, contact your project administrator to re-enable it.

    plz help
    thx

If you still don't get an answer soon (may be busy as hell) try the 7DTD Launcher here. I use it exclusively and have yet to run into any problems with the mods listed on it, and AoD is running almost flawless (personal preference).

On the topic of the Skull Chambers - My feedback would be that the poison dot tick seems a little too fast?  Is there a method to counteract this dot built into the game  (i.e. gas mask / anti-poison shot or pill / some kind of something or other you ingest / or some perk - skill you spend points on to mitigate the dot tick speed? )

Just wondering, because As a test, I opened the vault, and rode it down for the first time. Got to the bottom, looted a pile of books, looked around, noticed I had no 2nd key to get back out - had about 70% hitpoints left. Maybe 15 seconds had expired. I quickly looked around the room for an alternate exit, of course there is none, but I spotted the spiral staircase going down. Maybe a room below shuts the gas off or is a breathing chamber or something? So I sprint that way, fly down the stairs, make it to the cells, and DEAD.

I lasted MAYBE 30 seconds in the skull chambers.  @ lvl 20 with 3 points into fortitude.

To expand on this, I did a little testing on my own, and needless to say, this must be for very end-game almost max lvl.

I went into God mode, grabbed all the keys, and headed down. Not sure if all chambers have 3 floors, but the DoT started when I got to the bottom of the elevator, G fl.

There a few things that can be looted but I think are just bait to trick ppl into wasting time. I went down the stairs to the next lvl, kind of the same thing, went down again and got to the Totem test chamber. I used the keys in order, and with the resulting fights I discovered something. The Dot is still going this whole time...so unless you have the gear to one-shot 1000hp+ (@ GS 18), the easiest fight would take too long (3 zombies, 1 at a time), and you'd be dead regardless of if you even get hit.

I'm thinking that you'd need to farm nightly bosses to save up skull tokens, play long enough to gain close to (if not) max wellness and HP/Stam, and get the weapons from the AoD Traders to even come close to making it through to maybe the second fight, quick loot corpses, and sprint back to the elevator and up.

Even then there's no guarantee even a flawless no-hit-taken fight wouldn't still kill you from the Dot.

Love the mechanic and know it'll be fun whenever I get high enough to run them, however the amount of keys dropped from night hunting {Lucky goggles and a cpl points into raising looter perk for normal gameplay}, and the amount of Skull Chambers spawned in-world is a bit much for something THAT late-game oriented.

Also it would make things run smoother without as much extra calculation that causes CPU's to stutter.

**Dangit TFP, please try to optimize.**

  18. @pipermac

This might have been posted earlier and I missed it.

Having a couple hiccups with save games and sound...might be my fault, not completely sure.

With the sound, I'm getting loud zombie aggro sounds right next to me, when there isn't one anywhere near me, and when I turn on AI stats (Numpad 0) the closest zombie is more than 14 blocks away, and wandering around not aggro. This is really unnerving when stealth-clearing a poi and all of a sudden get blasted with @%$#ed-zombie noise through my headset and the only zombies around are still sleeping.

Save games are a bit trickier for me to troubleshoot, so I hope you might have some insight.

For some reason AOD is sharing save game slots with Undead Legacy, as in the 2 world saves I had on UL were showing up as available to load on AOD, but not the other way around. The only way I could clear the problem was to uninstall UL, which would normally bug me if it wasn't for the fact I screwed up in leveling and would have had to start over anyway.

All this is being done with the 7DTD launcher btw, if it makes a difference.

If there are any logs you need just let me know and I'll hunt them down.

Ouch...hopefully this might be addressed by the time I grow the stones to try it myself. ATM trying a low gamestage approach to AOD so I have xp set to 25%, to hopefully not get run over on the first cpl horde nights. Getting shocked by melee with Watchers sucks.
