  1. We recently learned that the bombs fell several years ago.
  2. Summary: Wolf (big one, maybe a dire wolf, in the snow biome) failed to locate me on its back, let me "ride" it while it stayed in place, beating it to death over a loooong time Game Version: (A20 unstable) Platform: (PC) OS/Version: (Windows 10) CPU Model: (AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX) System Memory: (64 GB RAM) GPU Model and VRAM: (nVidia RTX 3070) Screen Resolution: (1920x1080) Video Settings: (Ultra) Game mode: (SP) Did you wipe old saves? (Yes) Did you start a new game? (Yes) Did you validate your files? (Yes) Are you using any mods? (No) EAC on or off? (Off) Status: NEW Bug Description: Detailed steps to reproduce the bug: 1) Prepare a three-block nerd pole 2) Surround with eight spike traps (this may not be necessary for the bug) 3) Get chased atop the nerd pole by a wolf 4) From atop the pole, fail to stab the wolf to death while it chews out the 2nd block 5) When you fall, manage to land on top of the wolf Actual result: a) Wolf doesn't move from standing on the 1st block b) Wolf doesn't attack player standing on wolf's back c) Player can stab the wolf with a spear, over and over d) Player can run out of stamina, rest in place, even drink water e) Player can continue to stab the wolf until it dies, then harvest its corpse Expected result: a) Wolf kills player
  3. Summary: Stone spear auto-throws when selected in hotbar after previously canceling a throw Game Version: (A20 unstable) Platform: (PC) OS/Version: (Windows 10) CPU Model: (AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX) System Memory: (64 GB RAM) GPU Model and VRAM: (nVidia RTX 3070) Screen Resolution: (1920x1080) Video Settings: (Ultra) Game mode: (SP) Did you wipe old saves? (Yes) Did you start a new game? (Yes) Did you validate your files? (Yes) Are you using any mods? (No) EAC on or off? (Off) Status: NEW Bug Description: Detailed steps to reproduce the bug: 1) Put a stone spear in a hotbar slot 2) Wield the stone spear 3) Hold right-click to prepare to throw at full strength BUT DO NOT THROW 4) Select another hotbar slot (which does not result in a throw) 5) At any point afterward, even a few minutes, reselect the spear on the hotbar 6) The spear is thrown at full strength Note: This works with all hotbar spears. If you load hotbar slots 2-10 with spears, prepare each spear like this (using the empty spot in 1), then at any point you can launch nine spears in rapid succession at full strength. Actual result: Step 6 and the note cover this: the prepared spear is fired at full strength Expected result: When I leave the spear unthrown (step 4), then step 6 should be "spear is ready to stab or be prepared to throw"
  4. If I woke in the world of 7D2D and had to make my way, I'd perish. (I'm no good at any of the things required of the player character.) But pretending that I were more capable than I am, I'd suspect that I was being @%$#ed with on a pretty grand scale. Because the quality of loot in an apocalypse should be the inverse of what we find. Finding crappy, handmade tools and no guns early on makes no sense: proper tools and weapons are *abundant* in the modern world. With the advent of the apocalypse, *new* tools and weapons cease being made. As things get used up, they vanish from the dying world. (I'm more willing to believe that armor found early on is garbage: the world has not needed quality armor til now, so it'll be a while before crafters are turning out decent stuff.) Players should be able to find canned goods, bottled water, medicines, clothes, tools and weapons right away. (When they are also utterly lacking in the better survival skills.) As they struggle with the loss of decent supplies, as they run headlong into the need to repair and improvise, they should be learning new survival skills along the way. The idea that I should find high quality stuff at roughly the same time as I've gained the skills to make great use of it seems deeply weird to me. I've seen lots of complaints about the loot system in the forum, and I've seen modders take a stab at balance. The Romero mod adds in scrap tools, which makes more sense to me than the stone tools of vanilla 7D2D, but even that mod lacks the inversion principle. Are there any mods taking this tack? (I'm open to being talked around to a different way of thinking. There's clearly some world building in the background of the game that might render a lot of my thoughts invalid.)
