  • Cannot Join Multiplayer Game, Stuck on Creating Character

    Summary: I was able to play a multiplayer game with my friend but was randomly disconnected from the game and am unable to rejoin. After losing connection to the server suddenly I restarted my game and attempted to rejoin the multiplayer session via  Steam invite. The game began to load and produced an error log on the Creating Character step. I let it run for 5 to 10 mins, still unable to join. Closed my game, verified files, no errors, tried to join, same result. My friend who was host the game (and whose game has continued to work fine) restarted his game and verified his game files, I was still unable to join the game, stuck at the same point.

    Screen Resolution: (2560 x 1440)

    Game mode: (MP client)

     

    Did you wipe old saves? (Yes)

     

    Did you start a new game? (No)

     

    Did you validate your files? (Yes)

     

    Are you using any mods? (No)

     

    EAC on or off? On

     

    Status: NEW

     

    Bug Description:

     

    Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

    1) Launch 7 Days to Die Alpha 21

    2) Join friends multiplayer game via Steam invite

    3) Get stuck loading into said multiplayer game on the Creating Character step. Even after 30 mins was unable to join.

     

    Actual result: Unable to join multiplayer game through Steam, stuck on Creating Character loading step.

     

    Expected result: Join my friends multiplayer game without issue, like I have over a dozen times before.

    So far, there is only 1 fix for this.

    You need to get in touch with the one who has direct server access.

    They need to do 1 of 2 things.

    1. Delete your character, because the one you have, is bugged.

    2, Have him/her restore an older backup of your character, if one exists. Just be carefull about this, since if either of the character versions had a drone out, you will no longer have the ability to place a new one.

    Totally with the above post. All I know is that it seems to corrupt the player .ttp when the player disconnects or sometimes even with new players on the server. They become stuck at creating player with no errors in the logs and only a backup or deletion of the .ttp file helps.
