Summary: Buried Supplies quests and their buried chest can be located in the exact same spot in Multiplayer (between players) It randomizes for single player but it doesn't check for already done locations across players resulting in possible collapse of chest and insta-failing quest.

    Game Version: A20 b218

    Platform: PC

    OS/Version: Windows.

Game mode: Multiplayer P2P, It's very possible that it happens in servers too, due to the nature of the issue (No code for Per-player buried quest location checks acounting for previously visited locations between players)

    Bug Description:

Buried Supplies quests and their buried chest can be located in the exact same spot in Multiplayer (between players) It randomizes for single player but it doesn't check for already done locations across players resulting in possible collapse of chest and insta-failing quest. Chest spawns in the exact same spot from player to player, so if the first player digs 1 block below the original first chest, the second will insta-fail the quest .

Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

    1) Play whatever map you want in a20. The bug happens with 2 or more players , recommended 3 players or more and ALL  the players shall cheat in

    Spoiler

(dm admin command+ speak to trader, reset quests if there aren't buried supplies available)

buried supplies quests of the same level from the trader to see the results. Try 10 quests in 3 traders (10 quests each) to 100% reproducing success, as it shows pretty well a normal Gameplay session. Use the superdigger if you want to in order to finish quickly.

    2) Always share each quest and accept them between the 3 players. Now you can start doing them. Don't forget to share and accept the quests with the rest of the players.

    3) IMPORTANT: Each buried supplies quest you do, dig a little deeper below and around the chest after taking it, like you were needing a bit of stone or extra clay, which is normal in a normal gameplay.

    3) Once the first one repeats the same spot, it insta-fails due to the nature of the quest. The chest spawns in the same place and it doesn't find space below because the player who did the previous buried quest in the same spot digged a couple of blocks more, so it collapses and breaks.

Actual result: Buried Supplies quests and their buried chest can be located in the exact same spot in Multiplayer (between players) It randomizes for single player but it doesn't check for already done locations across players resulting in possible collapse of chest and insta-failing quest.

    Expected result:

Easy solution: Just make the friggin' chest like the satchel OR

Hard solution: Code a check that prevents repeating buried quest's locations between players.

The fact that the quest repeats spots CAN happen in reality (the courier isn't playing with a full deck), but what shouldn't happen is that a player unfairly fails the quest without even trying. That's not a good experience, mind you.

    Spoiler

@TSBX oh I've got more bugs related to the "design choice" of making the chest unrealistically collapse. I'll post the other issue/bug right after this one. Don't get me wrong, both floating and collapsing don't "realistically" make sense, but floating OR collapse into a backpack would prevent all these edge cases with just that one tweak.

This bug is related to this one as the solution for one would fix the other:
