  • Wood footsteps heard when walking on grass/soil if fence wall is adjacent to player

    NekoPawtato

Summary: Running on soil/grass alongside a wooden fence will create wood footstep sounds instead of the normal soil/grass footstep sounds. Doesn't matter which side of the fence you're on.

    Game Version: Alpha 20.3 b3

    Platform: PC

    OS/Version: Windows 10

    CPU Model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300HQ CPU @ 2.30GHz

    System Memory: 8GB

GPU Model and VRAM: AMD Radeon R9 M275X (4075MB?)

    Screen Resolution: 1280x720

    Video Settings: Potato (Lowest)

    Game mode: SP

Did you wipe old saves? Not since A20.0

Did you start a new game? Yes

Did you validate your files? Yes

Are you using any mods? No

    EAC on or off? On

    Status: NEW

    Bug Description:

Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

    1) Find a wooden fence from a RWG house or tile

    2) Run alongside the fence

Actual result: Wood footsteps can be heard regardless of which side of the fence you're on, as long as it's adjacent to you.

Expected result: Sound should match the material that the player is standing on

I believe this occurs with any "sheet" shaped object.  If you walk anywhere through the 'void' part of the the sheet block, it will still take on the walking sound of whatever material that block has been set to.

Interesting, but wouldnt that mean you would only hear the sound when you're on one specific side of the fence then (the void side)? In my video it happens when you walk on both sides.

Yeah, you're right on that.  Same thing happens with the noise traps.   If you orient them on their sides it'll activate the noise buff on both the top and bottom.   Hmmmm...
