  • Dedicated Server Freezing

    Summary: Dedicated Server Console is freezing at random times. Have to force close with task manager. Everything was working normally until this last week or two. This happens like 1 out of 4 times playing but tonight it happened 6 times. Only able to play at about 20-30 minute intervals. These crashes have happened with 1-3 people playing randomly, everyone's client is fine, just console crash and lost connection to server.

     

    Game Version: A20 238

    Platform: PC

    OS/Version: Windows

    CPU Model: Intel Xeon E5-2670

    System Memory: 32GB

    GPU Model and VRAM: No GPU/onboard graphics (dedicated server)

    Screen Resolution:

    Video Settings:

    Game mode: MP Dedicated RWG

     

    Did you wipe old saves? Yes

    Did you start a new game? Yes

    Did you validate your files? Yes

    Are you using any mods? Yes, SMX skin

    EAC on or off? off

     

    Status: NEW

     

    Bug Description: Dedicated Server Console freezing

     

    Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

     

    1) Play on server

    2) Everything freezes and can't do anything in game

    3) Have to force close console with task manager

    4) I have restarted both console and desktop/server

    5) Repeat 1-4

    One thing I see... Player name with underscore. Really screws up the current system. Here is an example with "captin_corpse".

    Is this something that changed recently? Like the last week or two? I have been playing just fine until this last week or two. Server is over day 100 and I started it when A20 first became stable, putting most of the time in before January started. Been way worse this last week. And I am not surprised there wasn't much in the logs, the console freezes and nothing is recorded in the log either at this time. The whole thing just stops or hangs. If there is anything else I can input to try and get this fixed, just tell me. Oh, FYI this happens most often when we are at home base. Not as many issues when we are out and exploring

    EOS is a new feature with a20. Has existed since shortly before the build went public, so it isn't something recent.  There is already a report here about underscores in player names causing a problem.

    If it only happens at the home base, maybe the problem is in something here.
