Xbox One "You Need a Controller" When Using Keyboard and Mouse

Sorry, but this is an issue with Microsoft and is out of our control.

Try this:
Remove the batteries from the controller
Plug a USB-C cable into the controller and the other end directly into the front of the Xbox
It must be plugged into the Xbox and not any other power source

On battery power, the controller goes to sleep after 15 minutes.
With the setup above, it was on for over 30 minutes.
