Zombies no longer spawning in open world

I no longer get any zombies spawning on the streets. The only time I see zombies are when the wandering hordes pop up or when I go into a POI and trigger it. Doesn't matter if it's day, night or biome. Zombies just don't spawn anymore.

 

For reference, I'm on PC, latest 21.2 build. I have Darkness falls mod and No Screamers  mod. 

 

This just started happening a few days ago when I noticed things are a bit lonely. I'm playing single player on my own, I have zombie spawning on, min/max zombies on etc. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm on day 44 btw. 

 

I'd like to add that during the game load screen it shows in red "ERR XML Loading and parsing 'spawning.xml' failed and also "EXC Entity spawner 'scout Zombies GS1' contains invalid group scout ZombiesGS1". 

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but looks suspicious.

Hi guys, 

 

I just removed my, "No screamer" mod and it looks like zombies and animals are spawning in the open world again. This is odd because there was no issues with this mod just a few days ago.

I had the same issue.  Going to assume you had the same issue as me given the entity name.   The no screamer mod modifies the XML files for the base game, but it will not change any other Mods XML files.  This used to work for me. But I now have Darkness Falls, and after digging through I found the screamer referenced in the error in the config files in  <7d2d>/Mods/IDCCore

You cannot just delete the full mod or it breaks Darkness falls.   Instead I deleted spawning.xml  entitygroups.xml.   and gamestages.xml.

In blocks.xml,  delete the block near the top that defines screamer spawning and set the <property name="GamestagedScouts" value="true"/> to false.

Opens fine for me now.

Hi, I know this post is a little old, but if you are still having this problem, go to your mods folder and change the folder name for IDCCore to something like 2-IDCCore to move it up in the load order. That should make it so it loads before anything else that also edits the spawning.xml and should enable it to work.
