FPS on minimum requirements.

I understand that the game looks great now and many people are loving it and having no issues with fps drops, But as someone who was already running the game at the lowest possible setting and getting 25fps max, the new texture pack has made playing alpha18 impossible for me. I have tried changing resolution, and whatever else was mentioned in other threads, but i can't even get 7FPS in an open area, and indoors i only get about 13fps. is there any possibility of implementing a texture pack selection i.e. old textures from alpha 17 and another option for alpha 18 textures. if not will i always have to play aplha 17.4 or lower until the issue can be fixed with fps drops.
