  1. The other day youtube recommended a video by spartan85 about playing 7DTD on xbox console, it brought back some memories.

As i was watching, i kept thinking i don't remember the graphics being this bad and the usual hindsight, why did you do that?.

Curiosity finally got the upper hand, so dusted off the xbox1 and booted up 7DTD. and yes the graphics are pretty bad when compared to pc.

But in my defense i have been playing 7DTD on my potato pc for a couple of years now, and 35 md5's on the xbox console sort of discouraged me from playing console.

Fun pimps said that they'll revisit the console sometime, maybe.

I'm curious if they'll be using the TTG/Iron Galaxy port as a starting point? as their logos are all over that version or start from scratch.

I really do want them to fix the console version, but not to the extent of buying a next gen (there'll be another along next week) console. I enjoyed revisiting some of my saves and seeing what i accomplished back then.

Ah using a controller then?  Makes sense given what my google search told me about 7 Days and controller issues, writing on boxes being one of them!

7 Days really doesn't support controllers that well so good luck with getting the mods to work properly without the usual keyboard and mouse.

Dunno if something like this may help and stop using BPM? https://www.rewasd.com/community/config/7-days-to-die-controller-support/37223a74c89fe137c43d6841d39e94ea

Hopefully someone else on here plays with a controller and can give you some help.

thanks i will check out the link. i would love not to use a controller, but my fingers don't support keyboard and mouse like they used to. my hardware is wearing out due to over use and can't be upgraded

Not many (if any...) people use big picture mode for steam.

How do you currently play Darkness Falls?  It seems from your post you know how difficult DF is so you must have played it?  Can you not set up your daughter in the same way?

By handcrafted he means not using the mod launcher.  Mod launcher can be found here: http://7d2dmodlauncher.org/  Probably the simplest way to do it if you are not good with computers.

Doing by hand is simple though, you copy and paste your 7Days directory into a new folder and then run the 7DaysToDie.exe from within there (or create a shortcut).

Just to add, this is not he Darkness Falls thread, it's over here.

    thanks again for replying

i use big picture mode for waypoints and boxes because the game told me if i want to label stuff use bpm, i have not played DF yet as i didn't want to change the files that allow me to play with my daughter, this is the reason for my questions in the forums. i will be playing it when i can play both versions without conflict, now i know how to do that.

this wasn't a post specific to DF, i just used DF as an example as there are other overhauls out there, and how to use them was sort of important

The handcrafted way is by simply copying your game directory to somewhere else and call the shell script in there (7DaysToDie.sh or similar) if you want to play that game. Steam has to run in the background while doing this even though you don't use it.

The comfortable way is to install the Mod Launcher for 7 Days to Die, a management utility that handles multiple versions and automatically installs mods as well.

thanks for trying to explain, sorry to be a pain but i'm 60 and not that good with computers, i think i get the copy bit, by handcrafted do you mean manual copying?, i only launch the game through steam as i like the big picture mode and the only launcher i know came with the game, is there a mod launcher that you'd recommend. i found 7daystodiemods.com which has khainegb's darkness falls for download but did'nt see any mod launchers

  5. hi Khaine , i got a minor problem. my daughter recently started playing 7dtd, she asked me to help her introduce a friend to 7dtd vanilla.

how do i jump between vanilla and darkness falls or do i have to reinstall each time. i'm not heartless enough to throw her friend in the deep end. yet!

i've never played any modded games before so i'm a little in the dark here.

  6. At first I thought it was just my potato pc just being slow to render them in, so I'd wait at the door for them to render or spawn in, nope still happened. then I watched you tubers with gaming rigs I could only dream of having the same issue.

Now I won't feel bad about ignoring the shining path the dev's want me to tread. I'll complete the quests my way, after all it's about survival.

  7. Why is it? I can watch zombies happily leaping cactus in the desert at a 100m, bears tearing them a new 1 at 150m, vulture hordes circling the trader at 200m, but can't see 3 zombies in the yard 1m below the wall I'm crouched on until i drop into the yard. I snipe zombies the length of main street, but can't see them through a fence or a hole in the fence. I understand sleepers don't spawn on the building next door until you get within a certain distance, because of rendering limitations. but surely they should be spawned in if I am standing in or on a POI

  8. The worst part is there is 3 names on the console game, Tell Tale Games the publisher (deceased). Fun Pimps and Iron Galaxy as game developers.

The game is still on sale in the Microsoft Store, and only two names appear on it.

This topic will rear it's head again and again as new players buy the broken version of the game and look for someone to blame.

maybe they should do a no mans sky, pull it, fix it, then rerelease it

It's not fixed even on pc, and you want it fixed on consoles? lol

I'm sorry but on pc, i have not had days of building erased, or half a base disappear taking all storage, work benches, forges, farms and chem station with it   because the chunk reset itself, if it has happened on the pc, l bet it was patched pretty quickly.

On console this still is a when not an if problem, the work around helps a lot but did not fix it. and after grinding your butt off for 7 days in game, it's a little soul destroying to see the screen go blank, the game freeze and everything vanish, the Tell Tale rep kept claiming they were "consulting with the fun pimps on it", that they were working on a patch (bs),  after 7 bases i gave up and moved to pc

  10. This may have been addressed before, but search could not find it

I got this weird problem when using an Xbox 1 wireless controller, it works fine with movement, back and forth, zoom, selecting, inventory etc, but it's the thumb sticks that are the problem.

the left stick works fine until you get on a vehicle it then becomes hyper sensitive, to the point of do not touch stick if you wish to go straight or you'll 180.

the right stick on the other hand is the opposite, if i want look or turn around it's like moving through treacle, i have to do a 3 point turn rather than die trying to turn around.

i can't run horde nights as the aim is so slow

i have no idea why this is happening, i've done the setup for the controller, dead zone etc. it works fine on other games like no mans sky.

has anyone else been having this issue and how did they fix it?

i have tried a windows 10 wired controller but it's the same twitchy left, sticky right.

i have tried launching from steam, desktop launcher, and in big picture mode, same problem.

I have got a wireless mouse and keyboard but they are even more twitchy than the left stick.
