  1. Okay, so I will 'fill in the blanks' from my end.

    Platform: Steam

    OS/Version: Windows 10

    CPU Model: Intel i7 1070H

    System Memory: 32542 MB

GPU Model and VRAM: nVidia RTX3060

    Screen Resolution: 2560 x 1440

Video Settings: High (custom) - has no impact on bug

    Game mode: SP

Did you wipe old saves? No

Did you start a new game? Yes

Did you validate your files? Yes

Are you using any mods? Yes - Apocalypse Now V3.0.6 Stable

    EAC off

    Status: NEW

    Bug Description:

POI zztong_NTT_HQ_01 (location 774.1 | 36.1 | -2320.2). Getting a Tier4 quest from closest Trader (Jen) to clear zombies. Quest marker is underground.

Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

    Get to Tier4 questing.

    1) Accept 'clear zombies' at NTT_HQ_01 POI.

    2) Arrive at POI, quest marker is underground.

    3) Use dm, fly down to where HUD indicates quest marker is. Quest marker is not visible.

    4) Clear quest from player's queue.

    5) Accept same quest from Trader when the quest becomes available again.

    6) Return to POI, quest marker still underground, but flying down ~10 blocks the yellow question mark is now visible.

    7) Accept quest, clear zombies and get reward from Trader.

    8) Later, this quest will be available again from same Trader. The quest marker is shown on the HUD to be below ground (same location as before), but fly underground to where its supposed to be and it is again not visible.

    9) Clear quest from player queue.

    10) Accept from Trader when the quest becomes available again. The quest marker is visible again underground.

    11) Can repeat steps 1 thru 10 as many times as one likes, result is always the same.

Expected result: Quest marker should be visible and accessible at player level on first visit to this POI without having to use dm and quest resets in order to activate the quest.

Pastebin - Pasted to account Melange01:

    Melange map_info.xml

Melange output log page 1 of 3.txt

Melange output log page 2 of 3.txt

Melange output log page 3 of 3.txt

Note - I had to break up the output log because it was a long session and I had lost internet connection so EOS logged lots of errors!

Also, my C drive does not contain a file called 'GenerationInfo.txt' - yes I included hidden files in the search. Any idea why that may be?

Wait what? I'm saying that turning off the PC over night when you are sleeping anyway is better than having it running through at about 30Watt. That doesn't hinder you or me playing a game at all.

Hi. You're right. I shut stuff down because I don't want to pay for idle energy consumption. It boils down to being frugal I guess. Environmental awareness is good, but thus far it does not affect what and when I play.

Now the tomato soup on the monitor scenaio. Maybe this wasn't the place or time. I kinda like tinned tomato soup. Just keep it off the keyboard. Screws up my gameplay during the key clicks.

Inherently, computer gaming sucks wattage from the grid which I pay for. So, in my opinion, gaming and reduced electrical power consumption are at odds.

Nothing more. Damn, still working on word choice,

What about simply turning off the machine? Startup times of operating systems went down a lot in recent years (and you might help save the environment).

Yes! I can pour a can of tomato soup onto my monitor and claim I've helped the environment!

No Meg, I disagree. If we were to follow that paradigm, then playing any game on an electronic device would make us environmental abusers..

    Nice try though.

    Shall we play a game?

yep learnt my lesson years ago with hibernation. now i turn off my monitors at night when i go to bed, computer remains on all the time unless i must reboot for something... longest i have gone was over 200 days before rebooting.

but i will not use windows sleep mode nor its screen savers because they use resources as bad as the sleep mode does.

    :)

Wow. And I'd say that over the last 200 days I've rebooted around a thousand times. But no sleep mode. Ever.

The person who warned me about sleep mode was a young and 'unschooled' hacker, who today has become a quite influential part of enterprise internet security we hear so much about. Obviously he knew what he was talking about at the time.

  5. Hmm. I was told long ago to never let the pc go into sleep or hibernate mode, because it can eff-up a lot of things when the machine wakes up.

So, try a potentially clean shut down instead of the lazy sleep mode?

Just because we have the option doesn't mean it doesn't come without some drawbacks, as your situation seems to support. It's a flawed feature. Don't use it for this game.

Exit the game. Shut off the machine. Startup cold when you want to play again. This game has enough issues without MS features, and the game has become quite stable.

    Or complain.  Your choice.
