  1. i liked the RNG, if anything i felt a bit cheated when i earned the chem bench then got offered it as a mission reward haha.  No my only issue is im not really strong enough to go to winter and harder biomes.  but im half way to fully unlocked and have tier 5 everything with some tier 6.  so i would have to say, by the time im ready to go to winter and or other biomes.. why shouuld i drive all the way accross the map to get a small loot bonus bump.     What happens "next" does need a little thought and planning for the future.   other than the bugs and never being able to get through a full 7 dies to day play through without some sort of game breaking bug killing the server forcing a delete and restart, i have been happy with the new pois and graphics updates.

  2. i will be just driving or just start a mission and the server boots anyone connected.

how do we find out what's causing it ?  seems to be often after i pass this area.  could be coincidence though.

suffice to say its getting hard to play, i wouldn't call crashing the server ever time i drive through town "stable".

  3. do any of these change the difficulty multiplier, ie if you set say a 2x difficulty multiplyer, would that make game stage happen much quicker, which then in turn naturally would give more zombies sooner?  some of the high game stages in the xmls almost seem impossible to reach unless you had large groups of people in the server.  could be an easy way to make it hard maybe.

  4. i mean you could extend this to adding "husbandry" in general to the game.   Ie some sort of net gun to catch a chicken, boar or rabbit and breed tame versions of them.   it would add another path to head down in terms of "survival".    but yeah a great idea, nothing worse than forest running just for eggs, not that it would stop me stopping at every nest on my way to an air drop.

  5. hi, what stat is governing the increase in damage to pipe batons ? is it the intellect tree, because the info when you click on intellect says stun batons.  I was just wondering if any one knew if someone was going down intellect points should they be using pipe baton early game ?

You're right.  I recently downloaded a modlet that shortens the zombies' reach.  It works fantastic and it's server side only.  This is the post from which I obtained it.  It seems you have to download them all but you only need to install the enemy reach shortener one.  Good luck :)

do you know where abouts i install that reach modlet ? it didn't have any install information with it.

  7. i mean, when i loaded up the server on my client and did a a20 play through it seemed fine, its now only since setting up a nitrado dedicated (i brought the best they offered) that the zombies seem to have such extreme reach / hitting when they are not even swinging.   so yes i assume its a multiplayer related issue, but its really in your face, noticeable as soon as i loaded into dedicated.  for all players.

unless funpimps are playing solo only and everyone else for that matter i cant see how everyone that has a dedicated setup isn't complaining about it, it really spoils the experience if you die to hits you can not see.

if it isnt happening on every single dedicated then i was hoping for info on settings changes etc to make things better.   other than trying to re role the save game "hopeing" it sorts it.

  8. as title says, after last patch, although though I technically started a new pregen10k seed with same settings as before.  except now the zombies seem to be able to hit you from very far away.  i cant even use knife anymore.. yet before that patch it was fine.  its almost like the don't even animate yet i receive damage.   we are persisting but its extremely annoying when you get hit from so far away.  ie they can hit you but you cant reach them.

I've noticed that too on my end, I believe it's just because it's and experimental build.

Also, try this tool out for editing XMLs:
    https://www.nexusmods.com/7daystodie/mods/754

It's meant for making mods, but you can use it to just adjust your server XMLs without adding any mods yourself, for example, we made it so rockets and zombies can't damage roads and the only thing that can dig up the road blocks are picks.

hmm, that program might be above my pay grade, i tried loading a xml and nothing showed up on screen.  in hind sight i guess this just high lights how much the current server settings need improving on the standard 7 days to die official server settings.  i shouldnt have to be going into xml files for this stuff.

Better off with a dedicated, you can have more zombies that way.

Also, 8gb is alright, but I honestly recommend 12gb, its about the best for doing zombies.

Our server uses about 10 to 11 during horde with 20 being the highest I've seen, this of course depends on how big of a map you use.

Nitrado only goes to 8gb I think.

we tried changing max alive from 8 to 25 then set time to horde night and it was visable more zombies on horde night.  And no noticeable drop in fps.

there was an annoying fog to start with but luckily it vanished and I could start to see them from

    my up high position.

it was hard going through the xmls and I standing it all so hopefully they make these easier ui settings in the future.  Also several of the server xml settings are different from the ones I chose at game start, I’m not sure why the game ui setup would not properly change the server xml settings.  Ie feral sense was set to all in the server screen but set to 0 in the xml … which means off.

    bug maybe.

Best idea for this is changing your gamestages.xml to increase the amount of zombies you get per game stage.

We made it go up faster on our coop server with 10 people, and we regularly lose 2 to 3 people on horde nights even behind 4 to 8 layers of steel.

You can also increase the amount of block damage zombies do during horde nights, so we have it at 500% on horde nights, 50% during regular days.

You can also change your WHZombiesMin and max to increase how many zombies are in wandering hoards.

We have it set that all horde have a minimum of 60 zombies, to a max of 180.

We also updated our CPU and memory on the server box, so we run with 600 max zombies at once, uses about 20gb of memory.

This is helpful stuff, even in A20 with feral sense im finding it easy.   i did the first horde with 10 spikes haha, over by 11pm.   sometimes it just feels like the game isnt detecting things right, especially after you have died a few times.   always seems to be hardest right at the start on first spawn.

not to hi jack the thread, but i have a pc with 64gb of ram i game on and was contemplating a nitrado 8gb server.  would i simply be best using my gaming rig or better off loading to a nitrado server ? in yours and anyone elses opinion, espcially if i start playing with settings ?

  12. I completely agree.    I hate the change in ai pathing, you can funnel on horde night and be done in an hour even on max zombies, and you get maybe a couple of roaming ones.  I get that performance is an issue but there’s plenty of games that have devs that can dig deep into performance hangs and find the code that does it, Stellaris has a great example of a code hang up they found in the next patch.   A small change in code resulted in more performance.    If the moneys not there for an extra dev, drop it as a dlc I would buy it just to see improved performance and more zombie option come to life.

most if not all the change is surviving to get that first base up and that’s about it.  After that it’s raiding the same poi’s and surviving the first couple of hordes, game stage scaling is just no where near hard enough.

all these of course should be options for people can customise but brutal and hard should be exactly that not just making them hit harder and run faster.  But about these mega bases that become untouchable.      Maybe ran some hordes that use the old path finding and will take the shortest path to your location.

    more and harder please
