  1. A ny news on if a feature was made to set zombies to a more classic style of zombie with no jumping or climbing ladders? Or has anyone come out with a MOD for that? Really hate the jumping zombie. Drives me nutts to be stading behind a car and seeing some zombie jumping up and down on the other side like it's having a freakout because it can't get to me. Really hate jumping zombies!

  2. Still have yet to find a mod. Not sure what you meant by Spider Zombies disturbing me. I'm more of a fan of the slow walking dangerous in large numbers or getting cornered in a room. The Spider Zombies are not really what I like to see in zombies but I was okay with letting myself open up a little to some other possibilities. However I was never a fan of having all zombies have the ability to leap over things. I understand they are trying to find ways of trying to make the game harder by eliminating pits and bases underground but I strongly feel they could have just made an option to turn off zombies climbing or jumping. They are not forcing the idea of making zombies run and gave the option of having them walk. If it's a level of feeling like "It's too easy", isn't that an option maybe some people like? Your not removing creative mode or removing the option to chose level difficulty so what is the big deal if someone wants to spend hours digging tunnels or pits. That is what I enjoyed but since a lot of the game style I used to enjoy has been chipped away at this game I can't seem to bring myself back to wanting to even try it anymore. Still I hold onto some hope that in one of these releases they will put those options there for those who want to enjoy that play style again. But I am okay moving on. Just say "We are never going to add an option to chose if Zombies jump or climb and if you play this game that is what you have to accept". I just tend to come back and check here now and then to see if maybe it was later added but really if it's never going to happen I'd rather just hear it and move on then to keep coming back every year to see if by some rare chance something was changed.

Only question I have is, are you still forcing zombies to leap and jump around or are you give server admins the right to pick and choose the zombies behavior.

I hate the idea of athletic zombies and thats why I have not continued playing this game. Just keep holding onto some small hope that either someone finds a way to mod and get rid of intelligent and athletic zombies or the development team decides not everyone like on style of game play.

I was serious. I really think there should be an option for the server admin to chose if the zombies leap around like lame rabbits or if they can chose to have them the Walking Dead style. I don't see why this can't be an option. In the early stages zombies didn't leap around. I still remember getting my butt kicked when too many zombies surrounded me. I know zome like the.... Not sure what you call them, Zeds? Zombies that have super powers or something. Not sure how a rotting corpse would be able to climb ladders or jump over pits. I thought that was for the Feral Zombies as well as having to deal with those flying creatures, zombie spitters and the spider zombie.

So seeing as how I don't see an option anywhere to turn off ladder climbing and leaping around does someone have a mod or know where to get a mod that would disable normal zombies from being super zombies?

  5. The Zombies are jumping beans though and I don't understand why. I never felt like a zombie was some sort of athlete. Can the player jump as far as the zombies do? I just don't feel that a rotting corpse who seems only focused on eatting would have super abilities  unless they were radiation super zombies or something. It's fine I'm sure another game like this will come along or maybe one already does exist where they got the zombies correct. I just keep going back and thinking about that zombie that was by the car and I was on the other side of it and he just jumped up and down like a crazy clown. If anyone is able to MOD it so that climbing and jumping are disabled I'd be okay with that. Or if you know of another game similar to this that has the creepier wandering mobs of zombies please let me know. I think I'm going to pass on this game for now.

I got an easy solution for getting rid of the drone.  Don’t make it, buy it, or grab it from loot.

    Problem solved. 😁

Until a player who joins my server decides they want to build one. I've not even seen the drone or what it's even used for. I left the game when they added jumping zombies. It's not just about drones though. Its about all this "Cool" new additions being added to the game like zombies who can leap a couple blocks away.

No... You are wrong about the solution. Not sure if you are old enough to remember the movie Wargames.

    V1.6

This is a mod I created to try out a few different things regarding code. I have tried to keep it as vanilla as possible, to maintain modlet compatibility, and just messed around with how zombie work.

    Features.
    - Zombies only take full damage from headshots.
    - Bloodmoons disabled.
    - Included Jax's Wilderness Spawn increase modlet (5x more zombies)
    - Added a difficulty tweaks mod to remove damage reduction from higher difficulties.
    - Removed zombie rage mode.
    - Added 10 slot toolbelt.
    - Added backpack stash buttons.
    - Added craftable log spikes.
    - Added ability to pick up plants with E.
    - Removed cop ability to puke.
    - Removed radiated vulture ability to puke.
    - Wandering hordes start from Day 2 at midnight.
    - Wandering horde configured to 30 zombies every 6 hours.
    - Wandering horde frequency and zombie amount can now be configured by XML (1-RomeroModCore\Config\blocks.xml at the top)
    - Added guppys PUSHABLE shopping cart (works like a bicycle for stam usage).
    - Added scrap iron arrows and arrow heads.
    - Added scrap club, scrap knuckles, scrap machete and scrap spear.
    - Added Pipe Pistol and Pipe Rifle.
    - Edited loot to remove stone arrows, leather knuckles, stone spear and wooden clubs from loot (replaced with scrap).
    - Edited loot to remove stone tools and replaced with scrap tools.
    - Moved iron tools, baseball bat, iron knuckles, iron spear and hunting knife from Level 1 of appropriate perk to Level 3 (localization updated to reflect this).
    - Scrap tools/weapons now locked behind schematics or level 1 of appropriate perk. (scrap arrows are NOT locked).

As you can see, it's mostly adding some extra T0 guns (pipe weapons), a scrap tier and modifying the zombies. Please consider this a base for you to build your own apocalypse on, rather than a full-fat overhaul.

    Download Links.

A19 Client (Does not work with EAC Enabled).

A19 Server (Does not work with EAC enabled).

Installation Instructions. (If you don't use the mod launcher)

Make a copy of your 7 Days to Die folder first!!!

Download the zip file at the link above. Unzip the 7DaysToDie_Data and Mods folder to your 7 Days to Die folder and overwrite when prompted. The mod uses Harmony so both folders (and their contents) are needed or you'll have problems.

Same for the server files, except in this case it will be 7DaysToDieServer_Data and Mods.

Video for folks who may need it (it's for darkness falls, but the basic idea is the same).

    Installation Instructions for macOS users.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I do not have a mac. This is a guide I found for Starvation Mod and Ravenhearst, but it also works on War of the Walkers so it should be fine here.

1 - Uninstall 7dtd. Open Finder, from taskbar choose Go -> Home. Open Library -> Application Support -> Steam -> steamapps -> common. Delete 7 Days to Die folder. Reinstall 7 Days to Die.
2 - Unzip downloaded mod. Open unzipped folder. You should see 3 folders: 7DaysToDie_Data and Mods. I will be referring to this as a “home screen”.
3 - Open Steam. In your games Library, right-click 7 Days to Die and choose Properties from the drop-down menu. Choose the LOCAL FILES tab and choose BROWSE LOCAL FILES.
4 - Copy & paste (do not drag-and-drop) the Mods folder to this location.
    5 - Open 7DaysToDie_Data -> Managed.
6 - Right-click 7DaysToDie.app and choose Show Package Contents. Here you should see 2 folders: Contents and Data. This will be the other “home screen”.
    7 - Open Contents -> Resources -> Data -> Managed.
8 - Copy & paste (do not drag-and-drop) the .dll files into this location. Mac OSX will ask if you want to keep both or replace. Choose replace.
9 - Navigate back to each home screen.
10 - Drag-and-drop the 7DaysToDie_Data and Mods folders into this location.
11 - Open the Data folders in each location. You will see there are Config, Prefabs, and UMATextures folders in each.
12 - For each of these three folders, open up its corresponding folder so you can see the contents. Drag-and-drop the mod’s contents into its respective folder. For duplicate files, mac OSX will ask if you want to Skip, Stop, or Replace. Check the “Apply to All” checkbox, then choose Replace.
13 - Start 7 Days to Die and enjoy the mod!

I really like the idea of a lot of the things you changed, but there are quite a few other things you removed that I wouldn't mind having in the game. I enjoyed Horde night as well as some changed to the tougher zombies like the spitting cops. I understand why you changed all of this but it would be nice to have a mod like this where you could edit or decide what things you want turned off and what things you want to keep.

The head shot idea I really like!

Mostly just trying to figure out how to remove jumping.

You've solved this with your own post... Mods. Let them make the game for these so called "casuals" and you can enjoy it with mods. Why is it that you think you should get the game you want, while these "casuals" have to mod their game to be easier? That's the power of games like this is the mods. You can literally tailor the game to exactly what you want. I just don't get the viewpoint that your opinion should be the base game, while the "casuals" as you call them are required to mod it to be easier or how they want. Imo it should always be the other way around. The more experienced gamers should, infact require mods to increase difficulty beyond the base game.

Imagine if a brand new player came to the game and were part of this "casual" crowd. They jump in all hyped up and end up in a death cycle due to it being too hard for them. Well, since they are new, they might not know about modding or anything like that. So they end up putting the game down. Now, take yourself. You know of modding. You think the game is too easy, so you're able to mod it to be harder to your hearts content. I see this only as a win win situation for all.

Look at minecraft. The base game is extremely simple and easy. The players who have progressed past that base game have installed mods to create an endless amount of difficulty and experiences. But if minecraft had all those difficulties and experiences as base, many people would be turned off. In the end, the more people that aren't turned off, the better for the game and the community, even if some of those people come onto forums to scream into the void.

I think options added to the game is better then making players have to search through tons of mods just to get rid of the new stuff they are adding. I left when they added zombies that jump. I understand maybe they think that digging a trench and letting the zombies fall into the trench might be the easiest way of protection. Well, it takes a lot of time to dig that trench and even if the zombies fall into the trench they tear apart everything below. My understanding is that rather then beef up zombies that adding other zombie like creatures is where it would balance that. Spider zombies come crawling into your base. Your base gets over thrown by zombies and as you climb to the top of your structure your suddenly attacked by flying beasts or you have to watch yourself so you don't get nailed by something that spits.

I'd think it would be SO much easier to just add a toggle to the game to decide how you want to play the game rather then how someone else wants you to play the game.

There are options to make zombies walk, jog and even run but not option to toggle if they jump or not. But also, who is going to sit down and spend time writing up a mod just to get rid of something like a pet drone?

  9. What is the point of the drone? If I felt I wanted some technology following me saying goofy crap I'd probably go back and play Fallout. The direction this game is going is starting to look very depressing. Rather then looking forward to playing a new version of this game, instead I'm spending a ton of time trying to find mods to get rid of stuff like that. I guess I just don't understand how people's minds work these days. Might as well get on with it and add zombies who run around with rocket launchers or maybe cyborg zombies that have jet packs and lasers guns.

The jumping zombies is  enough for me to hate this game and not play it but hearing about drones that follow you and say goofy stuff?

  10. Hi, I'm trying to find a mod that removes zombies from leaping over thing or bouncing up and down.

It just doesn't look right and from what I feel a zombie can do jumping is not one of them.

I've tried searching around but can't find anything. Mods that I thought removed the jumping don't stop them from jumping up and down like they are being dangled by a string.

I'm not looking for a zombie overhaul, just want to go back to the way zombies were before they added jumping.

I just completely lost interest in the game once that was implemented and I can't find anyway, or any mod that completely gets rid of of just jumping.

Please help, and if it's been asked before I apologise, I did a search but I must be blind or not looking in the right place. Is there not an option in the game settings to turn that off like they have the ability to remove running zombies, which is another thing I can't stand, so why not an option to turn off jumping? Just feel like maybe adding more options to the game to allow for a bit more customizations may help keep people interested. But if it's a "sorry we like jumping zombies go somewhere else", I can do that.

  11. I've not been any closer to stopping these leaping zombies. It looks SO unnatural looking and I HATE it. This is why I stopped playing the game and it looks like no one is any closer to finding a way to stop these zombies from leaping. I understand why it was added. People were digging trenches and just letting the herds drop into a pit. But do you stop to think about how long it takes to dig a decent pit? Not to mention trying to get good enough tools that don't break right away.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ADD A JUMPING OPTION TO TURN IT OFF!

There is an option to stop them from running, so why not stop them from jumping? Is there an ego trip developer who just feels everyone should love that feature?

  12. Thanks! I'll try it out. I did like the zombies the way they were. I understand why they felt they needed to make them jump, but I was enjoying the way they were before the jumping. When creating a game you have the options of making the zombies walk, jog or run so why no option to turn off climbing and jumping? To me it just feels like someone has their view of how the undead is supposed to be and is pushing it on everyone else. Not sure what other zombie games are out there but if this one is going down the pooper by giving a rotting slab of meat with the only thought in it's decaying brain is to eat. Physically it doesn't make sense at all. I don't mind having a mix like having those spider zombies, spitting zombies but for the most part I would like to see a game with a more realistic look at how the undead would react. Personally I feel Walking Dead got their zombies how a zombie should be. I guess their is just some people who can't play a game without something crazy.

Next thing they will do is add zombies with rocket launchers.

  13. Hey, I have not played this game in years and recently came back to take a look at how the game is progressing. Honestly, I really hate seeing zombies jumping. I know it seemed easier in the past to make it so zombies can't climb ladders but what about jumping? I often times have a zombie just stuck in one location and just repeating a jump over and over.

Does someone have a mod suggestion for me to try? I'm more on the "Walking Dead" mind frame of zombies not these superpower undead that really don't feel like zombies anymore.

  14. I have not been on the forums for a long time and have not even played the game in several years. I didn't want to do a huge search for this question so I hope you'll all be helpful rather then upset with me asking this if it's been asked a million times before.

I'm not seeing any options to turn off making it so zombies are leaping over cars and pits. I know that might have been a glitch in the game to dig pits to hold off hordes but that is how I really enjoyed the game. Now I jump in and see these athletic zombies and all I want is my "Walking Dead" experience back. I don't mind having feral zombies do things like that but to have every zombie in the game jumping around is killing my experience. There are so many times that a zombie just gets stuck in one spot and all they do the whole time is bounce up and down. So is there a mod to turn off zombie's jumping as well as getting rig of any sport ability that only a super zombie could have? As in lack of intelligence to climb ladders as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did run across one mod called something like no athlete zombies but even with that installed my zombies are still leaping.

I know some people will bark and scream that the game just isn't fun or fair unless you have those types of zombies but I personally feel there should be room for everyone's play style. I don't see why there can't be an option to just decide if you want jumping zombies or not. It can't be an option or is everyone being forced to just play that way?
