  1. I love everything about the map generator except the roads. See the attached below. I am enjoying playing on the map. I have all the biomes, in the proportion that I like them, with interesting cities. But the roads are weird. I don't know how to improve that aspect of the map generator. As you can tell from the map that I chose, I play on relatively easy settings.

  2. Personally I play on easy mode with loot and XP multiplied, but I'm playing on a small map and maxed out traders' level up quests and I'm not upset. Here are some ideas:

    1. I really like the custom map generator. If you were able to set it so it generated only one trader, then I think the level quest would bug out and you could only ever do level 1, which would be fine for some people
    2. A modder could reduce store hours and even give shop owners days off. I think that days 6 and 7 would be best because you might need a trader on day 1. Traders get the "red sabbath" off
  3. Regarding bandits -- I'd like to have a base infiltration experience as in many FPS, but I would not like to have my stuff stolen while I'm away or even while I'm there (see gamer reactions to sea monkeys in Subnautica: Below Zero -- their behavior was modified via a plot device.

Pretty sure that´s a bug where you can hit invisible barriers. While this didn´t happen on our last two playtroughs on a rented server at all, i had this happening in SP.

    I7 13700K, 32GB Ram, RX6600XT, SSD.

Also there is way more zombies getting stuck in the ground or walls than in A20. On the same machine/server.

I hit a wall recently in single player. I think I was driving away from zombies. Have not hit a wall when I kill all of the zombies that I pass.

The difficulty isn't the issue, it's the annoyance that is. Vultures spawn in the wasteland and the desert. If I needed rotten flesh THAT badly, I'd go to the wasteland and take on a few zombie bears and never run out again. It's all about that oil shale and tier 4-5 POIs that don't spawn near where my base is. Makes the trek that much more annoying.

There is a bug right now with drone where it gets stuck/lost which then can cause players to hit invisible walls. So that could also be another explanation besides hardware/network.

I stopped playing with drone -- too many odd bugs -- but I'll try one again soon

This is where builds like INT shine because they are the kings of area denial.

You are referring to carrying a turret with you in addition to traps? I've seen some videos where carrying a turret with the correct perks can be v. powerful.

  7. The main SSD (C drive) has over 500 GB available. The game runs from the D drive, which has only 200 GB left out of nearly 2 TB.

The game is stable. I downgraded the graphics and generated a new world (c. 5000 x 5000).

I reseated the memory, re-cleaned the computer, chose new DIMM slots. This is an old PC that needs replacing.

I've also stopped running Chrome while playing the game -- it's fun to watch streamers play 7D2D while playing it myself, but that's a small price to pay.

And I do not use EAC ((stopped using it a while ago)

  8. I usually don't like dying from an ambush but having a high platform shot out from under me (or stepping on a mine I did not see) in the construction POI was a big surprise that I respected.

The first time I met a wolf pack, I died.

Trying to loot a police car without lockpicks at a low level -- instant swarm death.

Panicked in the Shotgun factory, ran into water, and died.

    Those are memorable.

... and I play at Adventurer with slower zombies and I don't die often.

At the opposite end of the scale, did you know that you can turn off zombies by turning off "spawning" -- THAT is a different game. Very good for a second play attempt. I explored _all_ of Johnnytown and that's how I first learned that POIs were going to be far more interesting than I had expected. And realized that they would be more fun with zombies.

  9. And I am seeing some strange errors. Also a powerful PG but only 16 GB of RAM.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. Seen some bluescreens. Out of memory errors, freezes. Old PC but an i9 at 3.6 GHz. I also use virtual memory on the SSD.  Slightly better performance in smaller world size (longer mean time between crashes). Memory leak? Saw the streamer Legend complaining about memory leaks in Total War Warhammer. Sorry, no screen shots.

I lowered the graphics and turned off shadows and I still see flickering. I will downgrade graphics again and see what happens. And turn music off completely.

  10. I intend to write more, but I'm very impressed by:

    • A voxel building game that lets you manipulate the environment achieving results that you can predict if you have the imagination
    • A game that works at numerous difficulty levels -- I have loot and XP up, zombie speeds down, blood moon every 10 days (air drops every 7), and loot at 150% (200% at start). On Adventurer (low difficulty).
    • A loot system that works for me.
    • Combat that remains interesting over and over again.
    • The blood moon system under which your base is attacked in ways that you can plan for.

After a bit more experience, I'm actually thinking the magazines are not what we want. They're largely random, not a predictable result of anything you do. Y

I do agree with this. Some slot machine games work, but it would be nice to have skills be more intentional. As the streamer LegendOfTotalWar says, mechanics that give you agency are meaningful for the player, or as Sid Meier said, good games give the player interesting choices.

  12. I just started a new game and at low game state did not even have honey available for sale -- I had access to two traders, both Jens. So when I died taking risks looking for antibiotics, I was glad that the disease reset.

Also, BTW, I play at a low difficulty level -- slowing down the zombies changes the game. I very much appreciate that the settings allow me to play an easier game while many of you are playing an insane difficulty game. I call my game difficulty "10 days and chill" while most of you are playing the title "7 days to die".
