They should make it so that all the zombies you ever see are the burnt zombie model--except rarely you'll get one of the other models. So in a horde of 30 zombies 28 burnt zombies, a boe, and a tom clark.

In my opinion what purpose does that serve?

If I'm walking down the street and I see everyone wearing the same half dozen or so outfits, it would look very weird to me.  Put them in multiple different outfits and they will start to look normal.  If they add more zombies, they need to balance them and make them unique.  Adding new zombies but having them act like existing zombies doesn't provide any benefit other than a different look and you can only make a very limited number of those that way.  I would rather see a horde coming at me where exact duplicates are uncommon than to have a few more types of zombies that will still look repetitive as you'll have only a few new ones compared to the possibility of hundreds of different looks if you used skins on existing zombies.  I'm not saying they can't also add new zombies, but you just won't get much variety by doing it only that way.  With skins, your hordes can look far more varied and less repetitive.  Your quest zombies will feel less identical and more like they were real people turned into zombies instead of a half dozen people turned into thousands of clones who were then turned into zombies.  Ideally, you'd have different clothing that is similar enough in style so you can still identify what zombie you're fighting for strategy purposes, but still different so they seem like people in just their regular clothing.  But the easier option is just to tint the existing clothing with different colors so they at least look different enough to not feel as repetitive. For the amount of effort spent, you can get far more out of using skins than making additional unique zombies.  Even if they added 10 more unique zombies, it will still feel repetitive because you still don't have that many and when you have a bunch coming after you, there will be all kinds of duplication.  If they added multiple skins to each zombie, then you can quickly end up in the hundreds of possible looks with far less work.  If they could get a bit more modular and have a few hair styles, a few skin tones, a few colors of clothes and perhaps even a few clothing styles for each zombie, then you would have so much variety that you would hardly see exact duplicates.  You just can't get that from only adding more zombies.

I'm fine with a grid UI.  Those work very well (at least if they are well-designed).  I just hope the style can be adjusted or easily changed, preferably without needing a mod.  The style feels more sci-fi or at least crisply modern than what you'd expect for a post-apocalyptic world.  The interface should have a DIY, dingy/rusty, Mad Max type feel to it, imo.  That UI (mainly the stat bars, but much of it is also too clean and modern for this game) is just not a good fit for this game.  Please consider changing the style to match the game rather than putting some "pretty" and modern looking UI on the game.  The UI should fit the game.  A modern and clean UI like that is fine for other games, but really looks off in this one.  You can still have the grid and have a look that fits the game as well.

I mean deep down I'm fine with the zombie skins, different clothing, hairstyles and different skin tones for the zombies, I was only saying just add new zombies because I just don't feel like it will be done right. If this is done right to where the zombie skins all look completely different then I'm all for it. Also Madmole said (but I had designs for them) so does this mean new zombies are almost done but just need more work before they get added in or something else.

I'm fine with the grid-based UI as long as it matches/fits the game with zombies (post-apocalyptic world). I was thinking of a blood related UI design because of the 7DTD logo but that's just an idea not that I would want it to happen.

I only have two issues with what I saw (sorry!!). One is that the new UI for the health, stamina, etc. bars feel way to cartoony and bright for this game.  I would love the option to use the current versions of all that (not the entire UI, just that stat bars section) without needing a mod to do it but I understand if that's not possible.

I think the new UI concepts doesn't really match the game, but they did say that there basically making adjustments and they wanted it to be grid based, so who knows maybe it will be something completely different.

  4. I think after the character model overhaul, bandits, story, factions, weather and armor are done then new zombies should get added in because Joel Huenink aka Madmole did say (but I have designs for them) so doesn't that mean some new zombies are already made but just need more work before they add those zombies in the game, if so then I don't see why they wouldn't add any more zombies because the designs are there. I hope new zombies get added into the game but after the other things TFP are working on. In my opinion different clothing on the same zombie won't do anything because it's still the same zombie your killing, but again in my opinion.

Ok, so I watched the stream and can comment more directly now.  The desert outfit comparison of male to female is certainly very different, where the male outfit fully covers the male and the female outfit shows a lot of skin.  That doesn't mean you have to wear that outfit, though.  I'd assume there are still a wide variety of clothing that would provide the style each person wants.  But some women would like to wear a "Tomb Raider" style outfit.  And, right or wrong, many guys who choose to play female characters would want such an outfit.  So there is reason to have it in the game.  If I were TFP, I think I'd at least consider having male and female clothing have the same range of styles (maybe they already do), such that you can also get male clothing that is a male version of the Tomb Raider style, though honestly it would look better to me to have a Raiders of the Lost Ark male style to go along with the Tomb Raider female style even though one is clearly more clothed.  But as long as they offer fully clothed (no skin) female clothing, I think it'll be fine.  Let players choose what suits them best without being too stereotypical in the available choices.  If this was the only clothing option or all were like this, then I could easily see where some women would be offended, but I am certain it will not be and there will be options for those who don't like this style.

I just hope there are still going to be options for a wide variety of body shapes.  I'd prefer not playing a jacked guy and I'm sure many women would prefer not to play women with such a prominent upper half.  There were some different male options shown that do suggest we'll still have some variation in looks and hopefully it's a good variation.  I am also not a fan of the super hairy arms and legs on the one guy they showed.  It just looks really bad to me.

I agree with you, and yeah I think more clothing/armor are going to get added in at some point you know because they showed some clothes and armor already so why not add more variety to it. I think there should be an updated version to clothing suited for each biome if this makes any sense. The option to change your characters body shape will definitely be a great addition to the game in my opinion, so people can go in more depth of what play style they want and what the people want to look like.

Well, they were referring to player clothing.  I haven't seen the dev stream yet (pulling it up right now), but if they show only one outfit for females and it is the way CultofMoose described, then there's enough reason to be upset.  It does often happen that games as well as any other media are often designed in such a way.  When there is a perceived view that more males will play the game (whether correct or not), you can get designs made to create interest for guys even if it's not tasteful.  It isn't really right to do that but it happens everywhere.

That said, I am sure there will be enough other clothing/armor options to fit anyone's chosen style.  Keeping in mind that some women want to wear such outfits in the game, so there should be an option for those women as well as for those who do not like that style.

I know what she is talking about, what I meant was why is she saying all of that about the sex starved male players part of it because the female clothes are covering up everything (she said stripper outfits) but there isn't anything similar between stripper outfits and the female desert outfit. I'm sure TFP are adding more clothes/armor (so this clothes part to it shouldn't be a problem right now). I agree with more clothing variety but now isn't really the time to talk about it because there still working on a lot of things, so they're going to get to it I'm sure.

Maybe i'm missing something, but isn't the party girl the only somewhat scantily clad female?

Jen has big boobs, but her clothes are normal clothes you might see any female anywhere wearing. The old nurse had more of a sexy costumely look, but the new one is wearing scrubs and looks completely normal. Marlene, Arlene, darlene, and big momma are all covered. So is the lab worker. I can't think of a single other female zombie that is scantily clad.

I am fine with adding one scantily clad male zombie for those who really want parity, but i personally don't find it necessary.

As for specifically female character clothing, the only thing i can think of is the skirt, which is below the knee if i remember right. Definitely not a short skirt.

As a female, i neither feel like the female characters are made for the sex starved nor that tfp are giving me the middle finger. I absolutely don't feel the same as you, despite the fact that we are the same gender.

I don't get what CultofMoose is saying, TFP definitely aren't giving the middle finger to female players for 7DTD. If TFP were they would just have male characters and zombies in there but they don't, there are female characters and zombies in the game too.

  8. I have a question about game development faatal, is it true that the further you progress with a game the more complicated it becomes. I heard something like this from some people and just wanted to know if any of this is true or not? Sorry if I'm completely wrong.

Gotchya thank you, but the initial announcement about the stream tonight that you shared with me--where can I look for that? Twitter? This site? Somewhere else? Sorry I wasn't clear the first time.

That's on twitter on the 7 days to die account and I believe it's also on instagram too.

    You mean a Demolisher?

No, I was thinking something similar to a juggernaut zombie but with scrap metal instead that has armor all over the body and that has a lot of hitpoints. Just a thought that I think if done in a good way people would really like it. Of course it will have a weakness.

The screamer is the closest they're gonna get to a zombified kid, there's no reason for them to go there.

The kid zombie was just an idea, but there are two zombies already that look like a kid or at least looks like a teenager.   ZombieTomClark.webp.3ffac45bbbfc5ff9c0239e43a03b2911.webpSteve.webp.a1e9915b4ed263b47bcf8954ec81c103.webp

What does everyone think about a armored zombie that will only show up later in the game with a higher gamestage.

    Note about the child zombies:
In some places, killing zombie children is seen as too close to killing non-zombie children and because of laws 'n stuff, the short of it is, they'd be unable to sell their game in those markets. As much as there may be like... many dozens of people that want some kid zombs, If the Pimps had to pull their game from.. Germany or somewhere, It just isn't worth it from a business standpoint.

I get that, I was just looking at it from a zombie game and I don't mean a child. I was talking about it in a different way. The old spider zombie looks like a kid, I mean now that zombie is walking instead of on all fours. So it seems to be already a thing in the game.

Just as I suspected, mostly fluff that no-one needs, such as text lore on in game paper for a game that doesn't have any sense of coherent story, and no new zombies.

The game has gone to the dogs in my opinion, whether or not Rick Huenink was exaggerating when he said 1000 doors/variants updated (even a paltry number such as 100 new ones added) while new zombies has been neglected is just pathetic.

Clone army was a tiring turn off in the previous alpha - and as long as there's no inclusion of new zombies in this iteration, neither I; nor the bunch of friends I got into this game, will touch it.

I also share the sentiment of the 'Omg wowzers a new quest!' criticism.

Increased density of the same clones in any given area may be new in the sense the density wasn't the same as previous alphas, but that is little different to adding 'new' forest biomes by simply placing more grass and trees. Yeah, no.

Now bring on the hate, disapproval, dislikes, and la de dah. I will keep an eye out for A22 but as for A21, no thanks.

For those wondering why I'd post then not play, it's in hope that any dev reading this can relay the overbearing sameness up the chain and maybe they can dedicate the time to adding more zombies, even a few new ones would make all the difference.

Zombies are one of the main things in this game, so yeah, I agree with you on adding more zombies. At least four new zombies would make a big change to me anyway. I know there would still be a clone army of zombies here and there, but hey it's better and it's always nice to see new zombies anyway. I'm sure there going to add more zombies at some point before gold anyway.

A list of zombies that I have:

    • Miner zombie (I was thinking about the miner 69er perk and thought of this)
    • Postman zombie
    • Farmer (got removed) there is farm POI's
    • Trackstar zombie (this zombie could run at you)
    • Football player (got removed)
    • Maybe a zombie with a knife in his/her head (just a thought)
    • Armored zombie (when your gamestage is higher) This is a zombie that I really want to see get added in
    • Another zombie dog that's different from the existing one (just a thought)
    • Inmate zombie (because of prisons)
    • Another cop zombie (that's different from the existing one)
    • Guard zombie
    • Bandit zombie (When bandits get added in because this can show that a bandit got infected and turned)
    • A brute zombie that's very muscular
    • Cheerleader zombie (got removed)

These are just my ideas on new zombies, not saying that I want all of these zombies in. I'm just putting ideas out there for TFP and other people.

Since I'm just a silent reader, I'd also like to share an idea and ask what you think of it.  Imagine there are areas where there is some kind of "gas" or "fog" where it is not possible to breathe.  This requires a breathing mask with a tank on the back that has a certain capacity.  For example, if a zombie hits the player, there is a 25% chance that the hose will be damaged and need replacing before the player dies within 30 seconds.  The equipment cannot be crafted, only found.  The zombies in the area do double the damage per hit.  I'm not a programmer and I don't know how difficult it is, but my naive thinking says: define the area for the zone, let zombies do more damage in this area.  The item with mask and oxygen tank or filter, whatever, is of course also needed.  And that's all.  Tadaaa

I like this idea, the same can be said about radiated zones where there's POI's to explore and you can only go here if you have a hazmat suit (when the hazmat suit gets fixed of course.)

It's called having fun. Try it sometime. Also Roland's way of trying to sate all the nonstop "GIVE US NEWS!!!1!11!!" people that come in here, while giving people something to do until the devs actually show the thing. It's on the devs to show off new things/give new info, not Roland. But that doesn't mean he can't give us some hints. They are gonna show the stuff whether people solve his puzzles or not(Sad, I know. Sorry, Roland!) so it isn't something you have to take part in if you so choose. You can just wait patiently for the dev streams and not have fun with the others. 😛

I do have fun, if you would read my post fully you would see that I stated it's just my opinion and that other people might feel differently about it. I agree with the giving us news part of what your saying.

  16. What's the point of having puzzles for us to solve in order to get information about 7DTD (a game that everyone on this forum likes) when people are going to solve them. I know there are a good bit of people that don't like it and yeah (maybe some do) but still some videos have been made basically saying stop this and another one is, a waste of time. Then we get pig latin which is easy to understand but still ( eansmay eythay ightmay owshay omesay neaksay eakspay ofay tuffsay eythay idn'tday itequay inishfay orfay wentyonetay.)  Which means they might show some sneak peak of stuff they didn't quite finish of twenty one. I just want to know why these puzzles are happening in order to get information about 7 Days to Die (a game we like/love and enjoy) I just don't see the point in it. Anyway, this is just my opinion on it so other people might feel differently about it.
