Zero. They don't update the old console game, they port the current PC version over.

So the new 7DTD console version already has all the POI's that PC has already If I'm understanding this correctly, because I thought they had to build every POI from scratch on the new console version that PC already had.

  2. I think the more people that play it the better because me personally I want to experience the game first hand instead of getting my information/opinions based on a stream. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the TFP picking a streamer, if so then what if someone doesn't like watching anything from that streamer (so they would just wait until they get their hands on the A21 update rather than watching that stream).

Also, the more people that play the Alpha 21 release right away instead of just a streamer playing it will mean more opinions (likes and dislikes) so this will let the TFP know what everyone loves or hates about the update.

Makes perfect sense to me.  Better to open up to a smaller controlled group that will be highly visible and can validate that experimental is actually ready, like a second QA check.  They hand pick the streamers as not just those with viewing volume but those that can give good feedback.  Better to use 200 players that they can choose as a sanity check than just release it to everyone.

Aren't you a youtuber or a streamer, if so then of course your fine with it.

     On an upcoming undisclosed weekend….

Friday Afternoon: Streamers get the password to download the A21 experimental build.
Saturday: 1000s of people enjoy participating in streams of A21 by watching gameplay footage, chatting with other fans about the game, and interacting with the host— especially via twitch integration for those who utilize it.
    Sunday: The fun continues

    Monday Morning: The event ends

Monday a few hours later: The experimental branch which has likely been updated with any last minute quick fixes based on viewed issues, is released to everyone.

    1) Fun for 1000’s of people

    2) Soft Launch to 200 before full launch to tens of thousands helps smooth out the full launch

    3) Many new people are introduced to the game

    4) Many existing owners of the game get inspired to re-download it and play

    5) many emergent bugs are noticed and tickets created as TFP staff watch various streams

    6) Helps get the game trending in social media algorithms

    7) Devs get to interact with many fans as they visit and chat in various streams

    8 ) Fun for 1000’s of people

Seems unfair for streamers to play first then everyone else later on.

First, good job to the team for creating such a nice game!

Here's the features I think should help improve the game:

    • Add much larger trees (like in British Columbia - Canada) I agree, but from a developer's standpoint it could be harder than you think
    • Have forests being more dense and with more various tree types In some areas yeah sure
    • Add More recipes Definitely a yes
    • Auto-display bird nest on map To me this isn't needed
    • Auto-travel feature to POI This is technically already a thing for POI's but it's not fast travel
    • Ability to skip time (like in Oblivion) To me this isn't needed
    • A bigger zombie's density I'm assuming that you mean a big zombie, if so then I would like this to
    • Cross-console for online gameplay This is going to happen at some point when the new console version gets released
    • Add option to turn off certain in-game noise (like planes) I think more options in general would be good
    • Add a story ******  This is on the roadmap to Gold and Beyond
    • Add new animals such as: marmot, chipmunks, snakes, tarantula, birds and beaver (thus river's dam in some biomes) I agree but the snakes are in the game already
    • Add sea/water wildlife I would love fish
    • Add water-based vehicles (kayak, boat) I agree with you
    • Dead "Spider Zombie" which has a blown head, shouldn't scream at the same pitch or be able to scream at all The game is still in development so I'm sure this will get fixed
    • Add thunderstrike leading to burning forest (thus more dense forest^^) which also lead to blueberries groing in the new biome All I know is weather is on the Roadmap list
    • Add ability to create rising-bridge (like a castle gate above a river) TFP added a draw bridge
    • Add more mushroom types I agree with you
    • Add a food harvest tool There is the knife to harvest meat from animals
    • Add snowstorms that can also leave snow traces on the ground and with snow that can be harvested I agree with you
    • The game really needs its own soundtrack. The current music is great 9/10, I agree with you on it's own soundtrack with multiple 7DTD music to listen to
    • It should be easier to identify a real dead corpse from a sleeping zombie I don't think so because that's what makes it fun to me, but there are some corpses that you can tell the difference between
    • Add animations for broken body parts on zombies, not just removing body parts I also agree but this game is still getting worked on so maybe
    • Add beach and swamp biomes I agree with you on the beach but not the swamp
    • Arrows shouldn't depop within minute (or at all) You mean disappear right, if so than yeah I agree with you

    Again, awesome game!!!

  6. I know the game is still getting worked on so now might not be the right time. But I think there should be more attack animations for zombies at some point like some of them could bite you, because the zombies now just hit you.

  7. 7 minutes ago, Adam the Waster said:

i terms of gameplay, like i said, nothing crazy.. more melee animations per attack, better eating animations

      Reveal hidden contents

Melee and heavy melee under the same button (press for basic and hold for heavy)
Block and Kick (press for blocking the attack lesses melee damage) (Hold to kick/shove to stun Disrupt)

Some melee weapons are faster/slower at blocking or shoving and some like knifes don't have a Block but a Heavy slash for cutting many targets.

Guns are more or less the same but able to Hold the aim button/trigger to bash zombies back

Zombies have the same too. able to grab on too you if your not careful, heavy zombies able to charge at you, leaner zombies being more agile and able to climb better

I would also like better eating/drinking animations, when you eat/drink something I think it should show what it is that your eating or drinking. The melee attack animation I think should show multiple attacks (for example) with a baseball bat you could attack from side to side and from the front too.

  8. I'm sure TFP are going to add more female character models because in Alpha 15 or so of the console version they had like around 6-7 female characters to play as. I'd just give it more time. I mean yeah I understand the frustration of the matter at hand, this topic is still great to mention so TFP are aware of the situation. I really do think more playable characters will get introduced to the game because the character model overhaul is well overdo by now.

I have to just say... So what?  It may be harsh to say that, but when it comes down to it, there are many games only available on console that I can't play because they aren't available at all on PC and never will be.  I have the choice of either getting the console that has the games I would like to play or else not playing them.  Everyone has the same choice.  People like console and I get that.  I do as well.  But if you really enjoy gaming, you have a much larger selection of games on PC and a PC is not too expensive to have one that will play most of them.  Sure, it's more than a single console but it seems that most console owners have at least 2 consoles and at that point, you can get a PC that will play most games at least at Medium graphics.  I mean, 4 years ago I spent about $700 on a lower end desktop and it played all games that I wanted to play on Ultra settings at that time and for a couple of years.  After that, I started to have to lower graphics to high until very recently when I sometimes had to lower graphics to medium.  With an update to RAM, that resolved most of that and I can run at Ultra again on most things I want to play  $700 isn't a high cost for playing PC games and isn't so very much more than console costs that it is a stretch to get.

Anyhow, what it really comes down to for me is that even if you have everything the same between PC and console, you still have the possibility of far better graphics on PC if the option is there in the specific game, so console is already missing out on stuff.  It's my own opinion that if you choose console, you have to accept that you won't get everything that you can with PC and just be okay with that.  And if you aren't okay with that, then consider having a PC in addition to console.  I know that's not a popular opinion.  :)

I personally like having hard copies for my games I don't like digital so I never really thought about getting a PC, but when it comes to 7DTD, console players missed out on a lot with each Alpha because of what happened and yeah I know the new console version for 7DTD is coming out soon but still I think it took around 6 years or so. I just want to play the updated version of the game here soon and not have to wait any longer for it. I think consoles should just be better when it comes to performance and FPS because with some games it terrible.

i think the main thing on my mind now is.

when will we get some gameplay updates?

Art is good now, Weapons are good, traps (could uses some more imo), Armor is fine, but the gameplay is still clunky

The Armor is on the Roadmap to Gold and Beyond list so that will probably change depending on what TFP do to it, I agree with you on gameplay updates.

If we could get dozens of new unique zombies, I would obviously prefer that.  But adding only a couple isn't going to really make any difference.  That is why I mentioned skins.  It's far less work and allows for adding far more variety.  Yes, it's not the best option but it does give you far more variety than you'll ever get from only adding unique zombies.  Some of the comments about how it skins aren't good are in reference to skins that are poorly implemented.  They don't consider that skins can actually be implemented very well if the developers choose to make the effort.  Just because some games are designed with skins and don't put any real effort into them and so they look horrible doesn't mean you can't have them look good with the appropriate effort.

I agree with you about skins if each zombie looks completely different, but if not then I'll gladly settle for new unique zombies because I'm sure TFP have ideas for more zombies if they add any more. I mean on the A21 dev stream episode 2 they showed off some nice designs of the new bandits and character models.

  12. 33 minutes ago, Riamus said:

That is only partially true.  Directly speaking, no, more zombies don't move the sales needle.  However, more zombies are definitely one of the more requested items and adding more will increase enjoyment of the game.  That leads to better reviews.  And better reviews do impact sales.

This is completely true the enjoyment is always important to the players, or they won't want any part in it.

Keeping in mind that I have played less than one year, I may not be "new" but I am also not really what you are thinking of when you think of veterans.  And it didn't take me very many hours of gameplay before I noticed the repetition of the zombies.  I certainly would have preferred more right from the start.  Unlike a game like a military game where you expect everyone to look virtually the same because the military doesn't exactly allow variety in clothing, this game is based on regular townspeople and so the expectation is that there will be variety.  You can't assume variety doesn't matter to people just because they are okay with lack of variety in games where it's makes sense.  From the baby requests for zombies over just the past year that I have seen here, it is something people want and so is an important thing to consider.  If it can't be done before gold, there is nothing stopping you from planning for it following gold.

A zombie clone army here and there do get very repetitive and I understand that the TFP are busy right now with bandits and player models along with the rest of the Roadmap to Gold and Beyond but after all that then new zombies should get added in.

Regarding limiting factors so it works in console, one of the worst choices a game company can make us to do that.  I get that there is an expectation that PC and console will be identical, but that is really a dumb notion that isn't a requirement.  PC will almost always be able to do more than console and limiting the game just because console can't handle someone makes it a worse game for PC players.  These days, game companies make games for both PC and console and try to keep them the same and it just lowers the quality of the PC game significantly.  I'm not saying to have major grapes on PC and not console, but if you have to limit something like zombies or painting textures on console, go ahead... But don't limit them for PC.  Just be clear when you sell the two that PC has a few more things.  This is really no different than allowing mods on PC even if you may not have that option on console.

I think that PC and Console games should be in sync because some people feel left out, for example console players can't even play sons of the forests right now but PC players can.

Last, I am pretty sure most DLC sales come from veteran players, or at least those who have played a decent amount.  I could be wrong about that, but I have only once bought a DLC for a game I hadn't played enough of to know if it was worth paying for the DLC.  So keeping your veteran players rather than losing them due to boredom of the repetition of things like zombies will also increase sales in the form of DLC sales, which you have said you were looking into doing.  So, yes, asked are impacted by whether or not zombie variations are added, either in three form of new unique zombies or skinned zombies or both.

When it comes to DLC I'll only buy it if there's more content, I don't really care about the skins for your character.

Probably already have well over 50... there are 3 variants of each one already, standard, feral and radiated.

I counted the list of zombies and zombie animals and it's about 34 give or take, but I don't count the variants of each zombie as more zombies because there still the same zombie. I understand if there's a limit to how many zombies there can be.

These types of animations are novel the first time or two but after 100s of drinks you would be going postal in rl after having to watch another toss the glass and listen for the shattering sequence. And that's just because you're a chill dude. Others would be causing mayhem after just the 5th time....

I'm just trying to see if there are any other alternatives, but if the dew collector could possibly fill up with water when it rained then I'll change my mind and say that this glass jar change is alright and that I'm all for it (when the weather gets fixed because it's on the roadmap to gold and beyond). And it doesn't seem to rain as much as what it should.

  15. I'm completely fine with the survival aspect of the game getting changed to make it fit survival more (that makes sense). I really like the idea of the dew collector but what I don't understand is the glass jars part to it.

Suggestions to think of and these are just ideas:

    • Throwing the glass jar on the ground when you finish drinking the water like RipClaw said (so it makes sense instead of the glass jar going poof)
    • Make it to where you can't craft glass jars but can find them and fill them up (which could help with progression and slow down the amount of jars you get)
    • Limiting the amount of jars you can find in loot or at the trader

It would be cool if the dew collector filled up with water when it rained.

  16. 4 hours ago, RipClaw said:

Actually, they only have to do one thing to get the immersion right. The character just has to throw the glass over his shoulder after drinking and you have to hear that the glass breaks.

This is a lot better than the glass jar just going poof or eating the glass, just throwing it on the ground. But maybe the throwing part would take some time with each jar of water you drink from and the glass breaking noise might get annoying. So it's best to wait until the 7DTD community gets there hands on Alpha 21 to say anymore.

Yes I love this idea. I'm still trying to figure out how far after the pandemic this game is set in. The cars all look old and rusted. Same goes with many houses. Paint peeling etc.. It's only appropriate that we have overgrown vegetation and trees growing in strange places if that's the case.

I think there should be some areas and/or POI's that have overgrown vegetation because it has to be more than 10-15 years after the apocalypse. To me it doesn't seem like there is enough cars on the road, but I'm sure this is going to get better.

  18. 51 minutes ago, MarcItuchi said:

    I understand and agree.

The game is enjoyable, but could be so much more. The world has felt dead since they switched to sleeper zombies and lowered the numbers of wandering zombies a few years ago.

Check back in the future, the game is always changing.

I also agree, 7DTD has a lot of potential but I just hope when the game goes gold it will be a game that everyone loves and enjoys instead of a game that no really cares about or plays.

  19. 4 minutes ago, Roland said:

Yes. But it never went past the idea phase.  I really like the burnt zombie model for an undead zombie model and wouldn't mind replacing most of the models in the game with that model and having the rest be rare sightings as if the nukes burnt everyone to a crisp but didn't kill them but making them look basically the same. But then there would be some exceptions that were perhaps more recently turned people. Seems like that would be a pretty easy modlet to make...maybe.

The burnt zombie model only makes sense in the burnt forest biome, so what about the other biomes.
