  • Suddenly Lost all Progress on Skills and Books

    Summary:

    Simply put, I log in today on my world and I have been de-leveled back to Level 1. All my perks and all the books I read are gone. I am on day 4 and I estimate that I was around level 20 by the last time I logged on. I was level 7 in Strength with many perks allocated and lots of books read.

     

    Everything is suddenly gone. You don't need screenshots of nothingness to understand that I am level one and everything is gone. I have screenshots anyways if need be, but they are unnecessary. See below for a screenshot that will probably break in terms of formatting.

     

    Worth noting, before this happened I could hardly get the game to generate a RWG world. It just kept continually breaking with a fun new error every time I tried to generate. So I validated my steam files. Didn't fix it. So I deleted all my game saves. Didn't fix it. So I deleted ALL of my 7 days files and redownloaded the game. Then it finally worked and I generated this world right here.

    CPU Model: (Intel i7 8th Gen - decent for like 2019)

    System Memory: (16 GB )

    GPU Model and VRAM: (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4018 MB VRAM

    Screen Resolution: (1920x1080)

    Video Settings: (Custom mostly low-end settings, not relevant)

    Game mode: (RWG Solo world local self hosting)

     

     

    Did you wipe old saves? (Yes)

     

    Did you start a new game? (Yes)

     

    Did you validate your files? (Yes)

     

    Are you using any mods? (Yes)

     

    EAC on or off? ON

     

    Status: NEW

     

    Bug Description: Loss of all levels and associated perks and perk books

     

    Detailed steps to reproduce the bug: UNKNOWN

    1) I have no clue, it just happened all of a sudden.

    2) My world seed should be in the images, seed name: anything

    3) I believe I set towns and wilderness POIs to Many if that makes any difference.

     

    Expected result: To log into the game and have my levels and perk books.

     

    Actual result: Having no levels and perks or perk books

    Because I cannot find a way to edit this post, I have to post a comment on my own post.

    I said above YES to mods. That was an error, I am not using any mods.

    That is all.

    If you can explain to me how to edit posts that would be great.

    Thank you for reporting.

    There were some changes in the new update that would break player progression for some.  Unfortunately,  this can often happen while in experimental,  and is not considered a bug.

    Yes,  restarts just can't be avoided with some fixes.  Hopefully we'll get all save breaking bug fixes in while it's in experimental.  Thank you for understanding.
