Report an Alpha 21 Bug!

  • "exc nullreferenceexception object reference not set to an instance of an object." But the easy way to solve it do not work.

    Summary: A friend of mine when he try to access to a server get this error "exc nullreferenceexception object reference not set to an instance of an object"

    Game Version: (A21.1 b16)

    OS/Version: (Windows 10)

    CPU Model: (Intel i5 4690 3,5)

    System Memory: (16GB)

    GPU Model and VRAM: (nVidia Geforce GTX 750)

    Screen Resolution: (1920x1080)

    Video Settings: (Low)

    Game mode: (MP Client)

     

    Did you wipe old saves? (Yes)

     

    Did you start a new game? (Yes in SP)

     

    Did you validate your files? (Yes)

     

    Are you using any mods? (No)

     

    EAC on 

     

    Status: Old but do not repair on his machine with the usual steps

     

    Bug Description: When he try to connect to a server when it comes to loading the player he get that error then the game is kind of frozen.

     

    Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

    Actual result: He cant connect on any server we tried

     

    Expected result: That he could connect

    Thank you for reporting. The logs seem to indicate the player's save is corrupted. This can happen if there is network or data instability. A workaround for now is to restore a backup or delete the player's save. Deleting will result in their character to reset, however you can restore their progress using dev items in creative mode. 

     

    Long term we're working on a more robust backup/save system
