  • 7D2D now fails to start under 20.4 (b42)

I'm on an iMac Pro (so not M1 Mac) and I now get a very brief opening box (that I can't read in time) and then screen clears as if game starting - flash to red screen then the following error message....this is consistent every time:

I can confirm Alpha 20.4 also crashes on launch on a MacBook Pro (M1 Max), macOS Monterey 12.2.1 (21D62).

Specifically, the new 7DaysToDie_EAC executable crashes. I can launch 7DaysToDie.app without issue, but this seems to have EAC disabled.

I am also experiencing this, same as OP, I try to launch, I get a flash of red over the screen and it crashes to the Apple Report, this is either through the Steam launch or the Desktop launch.

I am also having the same issue on my MacBook Pro (not M1, I have an Intel i7) running Monterey (12.3.1). From a google search, it appears this is an issue with Easy Anti Cheat (EAC). TFP likely needs to update EAC. See the following link: http://www.vmpsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24991

You can still access the game on your Macbook by disabling EAC. If using Steam, instead of launching the game select "show game launcher". The option to disable EAC is in the menu that pops up. Once EAC is disabled, you're able to launch with no crash.

Epic games recently had the same issue and updating EAC resolved the issue:  https://eoshelp.epicgames.com/s/question/0D54z00007LfwOcCAJ/easyanticheat-crash-on-launch-particularly-happen-on-macosx-12x-monterey?language=en_US
