NullReferenceException & can't play the game at all

So I think the problem is with the charcters because I went to click on 'player profile' and this happened ~ https://imgur.com/CRFNpcx then I used the launcher in Steam to clear the player profiles and it came back with this (that was also constantly moving) ~https://imgur.com/rjb7SQJ , then when reloading and clicking player profiles again this showed slightly different ~ https://imgur.com/2ic8MMc

Was able to fix problem by pressing play game on steam > showing game launcher instead > going to tools > clean game data... > Check everything > clean. I had moved my saves onto my desktop and was able to save them using this video ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkteeH5gR6s ~~ Hope this helps people!
