  • Motorcycle Dissapears if you change video settings and crash while riding it

    Summary:  Game crashed and when I logged back in my motorcycle was gone

     

     

    Game Version: A20

    Platform: Steam

    OS/Version: Windows

    CPU Model: Intel i7 7700 CPU @3.60 GHz 3.6 GHz

    System Memory: 16 GB

    GPU Model and VRAM:  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

    Screen Resolution: 1920x1080 16:9

    Video Settings: I was in Low (due to lag problems) and in the proces of switching to Medium when I crashed

    Game mode: SP 

     

    Did you wipe old saves? I don't know - I always just load the same game - "quistsolo2"

    Did you start a new game? no

    Did you validate your files? no

    Are you using any mods? not on this save

    EAC on or off? I dont know what this is

    Bug Description:  

     

    Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:  I was riding my motorcycle home and decided my lag was not better in low graphics setting so I wanted to switch back to medium graphics settings.  I hit escape and options > Video > changed the general setting to medium > clicked Apply and got the spinning hour glass for a while (maybe 30-50seconds) Click and got the notification the "program not responding" so I chose close program.  Restarted from steam and loaded the same save "quistsolo2" When my character appeared she was walking and the motorcycle is no where to be found.  I can see my minibike and bicycle still on teh map at home.

     

    1) Be in Low graphics settings, while riding a motorcycle, hit escape to get to menu

    2) Select video from teh menu and change graphics settings to Medium then APPLY

    3)  If game never loads back in (spinning hour glass), hard restart the loaded game - see if motorcycle is still there

     

    Actual result: (description of what is occurring)

     

    Expected result: I'd love if I could roll back my save file to yesterday?  12/12/2022 - the last save of the day... I didn't really do much before I crashed.

    Unfortunately, there are issues in A20 with the vehicle manager that can cause vehicles to not be where they physically are after logging out (A crash would log you out, technically). You can try re-tracing your steps, as the vehicle is likely "registered" farther back on the path you took to where you crashed. They should be resolved in a future build.

     

    I will look into the crashing while changing settings on a vehicle in the meantime, thank you!

    Ok I will do that, thank you. I believe I was just out that way today though.  Wouldn't I still see the icon on my map and compass though?

    I have since upgraded to a 4x4 so the loss was more about all the stuff I had packed in the inventory!  Coming neck from a t4 poi.

    @Quist, the only thing I might add to TSBX's comment is that when I lose a vehicle, it often later appears where I last parked it (like outside the last trader I visited). Your loot may be in there too. Vehicle Manager seems to be trying to help us out the best it can by having remembered where it was last registered. Hope ya find it 😊
