That error is pointing to a crafting issue.  Try going to your workstations and canceling all recipes that are currently being crafted.

Legend - there was a campfire that had run out of fuel when there was a queue of water to be boiled. Cancelled it, campfire went out, console stopped popping up. Thanks for your help!

I’m glad it’s resolved. When you double click on 7 Days to play, the option pops up if you want the game launcher or not. Most people ignore that popup but it’s there every time you start the game through Steam and that’s how you access the game launcher

I launch it usually through right clicking steam in the taskbar - it doesn't show the launcher there. I found what you mean now, and it makes more sense!

I have had issues where I couldn't open containers when I was trying to mod something and missed up the syntax on the loot file.  Even once you fix it, it doesn't affect the game save you have.

any ideas how I would try and triage this myself? I've got notepad++, so happy to go rummaging in the files to look for the answer

  4. Tried replicating the error by purging mods and starting a new game with the same seed, made my way to the same POIs that I knew were affected by this bug, and the containers worked fine. Seems that having mods enabled in the world generation may be the root cause of the issue, but I don't know enough about what is going on to firmly say this is the case.

Yeah I don’t see anything in the log this time so let’s approach it from a different direction. When you installed A20, did you ‘clean’ all remnants of A19? Per the blue banner at the top of the page, before installing A20 you should bring up the game launcher and check everything on the second tab. After that, uninstall 7 Days. Reinstall 7 Days but be sure latest experimental-unstable is checked so you only install A20. Once installed, verify files twice. I’d be quite surprised if that doesn’t fix your issue since removing the mods didn’t help. I’m suspicious of some A19 files remaining causing A20 to be borked for you.

What is this game launcher you're talking about? I run the game through steam, so I just click play and it goes? I did try uninstalling and reinstalling the whole thing, then did a Cclean and defrag, then restarted for good measure. I put the save and map data back into the folder system then booted back up, and no difference. It has affected piles of food/medical supplies/books in newly generated POIs too - as in ones I'd not been to on the map before, and I guess "refreshed" by activating a quest there.

I'll try again today, including double verifying the files.

Is that a new game though?  If the mods missed up the loot containers, just removing the mods doesn’t fix it as the containers are now bonked.

It's only this one particular save -  I did a run through with the same mods on a different map and didn't encounter this problem, and in fact I used more mods than this in that run. I might try and generate another map to try and get it to replicate the bug. It's not game breaking, it just means that I don't get quite as much loot as I normally squirrel away.

    then there is this....

    Genius, good spot!

Also, only just realised mouldy bread and grain alcohol have been removed - I wondered why I hadn't looted any so far.

I'll try taking the 30k Stacks out first, maybe there's a way to edit the mod to remove references to those items.

  7. Bug I've not encountered before, even on my first short run through of Alpha 20 - basically some containers that would usually contain loot don't show the usual "(E) to open" prompt. I've tried putting the bedroll down, picking it up, logging out, restarting my computer, verifying game files, but nothing seems to fix it.

Playing singleplayer on PC Windows 10, with server options set to friends only.

    Log here - https://pastebin.com/k9K4HSDz

    Video to demonstrate here -

It's not all containers, in fact it's only a small amount that I've encountered, but it has happened on main stash, medical supplies, crates, toolboxes, one trader's broken workbench, chem station, cement mixer, and some store shelves so far.
