it was hard going through the xmls and I standing it all so hopefully they make these easier ui settings in the future.  Also several of the server xml settings are different from the ones I chose at game start, I’m not sure why the game ui setup would not properly change the server xml settings.  Ie feral sense was set to all in the server screen but set to 0 in the xml … which means off.

I've noticed that too on my end, I believe it's just because it's and experimental build.

Also, try this tool out for editing XMLs:
    https://www.nexusmods.com/7daystodie/mods/754

It's meant for making mods, but you can use it to just adjust your server XMLs without adding any mods yourself, for example, we made it so rockets and zombies can't damage roads and the only thing that can dig up the road blocks are picks.

This is helpful stuff, even in A20 with feral sense im finding it easy.   i did the first horde with 10 spikes haha, over by 11pm.   sometimes it just feels like the game isnt detecting things right, especially after you have died a few times.   always seems to be hardest right at the start on first spawn.

not to hi jack the thread, but i have a pc with 64gb of ram i game on and was contemplating a nitrado 8gb server.  would i simply be best using my gaming rig or better off loading to a nitrado server ? in yours and anyone elses opinion, espcially if i start playing with settings ?

Better off with a dedicated, you can have more zombies that way.

Also, 8gb is alright, but I honestly recommend 12gb, its about the best for doing zombies.

Our server uses about 10 to 11 during horde with 20 being the highest I've seen, this of course depends on how big of a map you use.

Where do I find this option in the configs? I'm running a Xeon 2286G with SSD and 64GB of RAM and the dedicated server goes nuts, when three or more people are online.

    It's under serverconfig.xml.

It's location will vary depending on service provider.

With 64GB of ram, you should be doing fine with multiple people, we have 8-12 of us playing with 600 alive zombies at once on hoard night and it only uses about 10-11GB of memory for us on a 10K map.

If you are having problems with connecting to a dedicated one, you might be doing something wrong with your connection to the server.

I can confirm that the A20 lags.

We played with 3 players on the same dedicated server (no VM) which we used already for A19 (for hundreds of hours real play time) and in A19 we never had such a huge number of lags.

Mainly when we run but sometimes even when we just walk. I seems to happen when we move in a direction where at a lot of buildings can be seen.

Maybe it's because of that optimized "rendering" of buildings far away...

I play 7dtd since A10 (in steam i have a record of 422 hours) and it is one of my favorite PC games. Please optimize A20 because this lagging is terrible (and we didn't had a blood moon with lots of Zs...)

You need to adjust your server setting, by default, lots of dedicated servers reset to the MAX cap for loading buildings, you really want it set to only 4 chunks.

The difference between them is almost 40fps if you are playing on a decent computer.

Right now, my dedicated server has 12 people playing with 600 max active zombies and I get a solid 60FPS on my rig, and our potato-computer players get around 20 to 25.

Hello everyone, I am a server administrator, I need your help. My server is a PvP survival server. I think we need a neutral zone so that they can't attack each other so that they can trade freely instead of shooting at each other. Is there any good way? In addition, I need a way to prevent sleeping bags from being put in prefabs.

In prefabs.xml you can modify the trader_area and create custom safezones that have the same protection as the traders.

You can also disable the teleporting ability for this; however, it will remove it from the traders inside the world as well unless you make another trader_area copy for your uses.

I play with a constant group of players in a cooperative environment and we are finding the game is not scaling properly.  Perhaps we are outliers because we work together but playing on Nomad levels and above, we are finding the game rather easy.  Even horde nights where we have the maximum zombies set for 200 are not challenging.  As a group of 4-6, we generally have a forge and cement mixer by day 2 and a reinforced steel base by our first horde night.  We love the game but we're now playing at 25% experience level with no guns allowed to try to give ourselves more of a challenge.  Surely something can be done?  If 2 or 3 people are grouped together, can the number of zombies in POIs be doubled?  Multiple zombies are far more dangerous than a few tough ones.  I would personally LOVE to open a door and have 10 zombies pour through the door!  Now THAT would be scary!  Other approaches could be adjustments to the loot tables, weather, increased chances to be stunned or suffer injury, super-zombies, giant wandering hordes of zombies,  and so on.  There are plenty of design space to work with in this area. These are just my thoughts but I haven't seen many people bring this issue up.

Best idea for this is changing your gamestages.xml to increase the amount of zombies you get per game stage.

We made it go up faster on our coop server with 10 people, and we regularly lose 2 to 3 people on horde nights even behind 4 to 8 layers of steel.

You can also increase the amount of block damage zombies do during horde nights, so we have it at 500% on horde nights, 50% during regular days.

You can also change your WHZombiesMin and max to increase how many zombies are in wandering hoards.

We have it set that all horde have a minimum of 60 zombies, to a max of 180.

We also updated our CPU and memory on the server box, so we run with 600 max zombies at once, uses about 20gb of memory.

harder you make the settings, just affects how hard it becomes to kill a zombie.. i was talking about making loots more rare, more zombies, more hordes, more zombies in houses, getting cornered by them... less ammo, harder to get wpns, my gf got a handgun lvl 4 from start which makes a big difference.

I never said make zombies harder, I said you can adjust the loot quality and amount to reduce what you find through the map.

Additionally, the Navesgane map is a story based map, certain loot locations have higher loot values than if the POI was in a random gen map, so your issue with the update is flawed. Play on a Random Gen and you will have more trouble rushing ahead to end game stuff.

  8. You can adjust the settings and make the game harder or easier as suits your play style.

The server I have setup for my friends and I uses custom settings that include unique loot spawning such as most stuff is only 25% of what you normally would find; however, I've changed the config to allow books to be found in stacks of 4 to 5.

You can also change out the zombie wandering horde xml, and make it where you get more scouts, and more zombies coming at you at once.

We are using a 10K random gen map with max zombies at 300 and 64 zombies per person on horde night with 3/5 on zombie hardness with 180 min. days.

It is a struggle every day to survive that way.
