    Bug Description:

Walked around and fell through the earth. Fell through infinite void for a few seconds and then popped back on the surface with controls and camera locked and unresponsive. Closed game and restarted. Game loads up until "Starting world" where it hangs forever. Other players on the server can see my character as half sunken into the earth in an area where the game appears to have failed to load surface features (i.e. empty spaces that look like they should hold P.O.I.s).

When attempting to relog, the loading screen hangs on "Starting World" but ingame sound effects happening around the character come through. Another player approached my character and was subject to the same bug.

Detailed steps to reproduce the bug:

    1) Unknown. Happened randomly. Rebooted server and no change.

    2) Another player walked to where I was and had the same experience and now is encountering the same issue.

    3)

Actual result: (description of what is occurring)

Can not log into game world. Loading screen hangs forever.

Expected result: (what you expect to occur)

Should be able to play as normal.

Another player was able to log into the server just fine. I attempted to log in and encountered the  same issue as before. They were able to find my character in the game despite the game being stuck on the loading screen from my perspective.

They were able to see the line of broken terrain that seems to be related to the issue, and they did not cross that line. They were able to see my character as partway sunken in the terrain just across that line. In an attempt to cause my character to respawn they dropped group and attacked my character, meanwhile I am still stuck on the loading screen. They were able to kill my character but the game never progressed past the loading screen for me.

I was able to "resolve" the issue by deleting the character save folder from the server and also from my own local machine. Now when I log into the world I am a fresh and naked level 1 character with all of my inventory, equipment, and skills gone.

Also, the area of terrain that seems to have caused this error has moved slightly. The bicycle I was riding when I fell through the terrain was still there and that ground was now stable, but a few meters away the terrain showed the same buggy behavior. A friend of mine tested it by entering the area and experienced the same bug.

The area of death is still there if a dev or tester wants to join our world and fall in the pit themselves to capture some error logs live.

    Hi,

I had the same problem and I've found a workaround for it.

    1) Stop the Server

    2) open "SaveGameFolder\<world name>\<GameName>\players.xml

    3) change the position="xxx, xxx, xxx" to a known workable location. I've used the same location on an other player

    4) Start the Server

    5) log in

    Now you can login again.

I've used the workaround I've posted above. It helps a while on my own dedicated server but in nearly two hours I've was fallen 6 time through the ground. The game is nearly unplayable for me.

Tested with two different pc's, with windows 10, everything fresh installed (winX and 7d2d). Also dedicated server clearly installed.

Thanks for the information, jawascod. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the null reference in the output log to be able to take a look at it. If you happen to see it again, please let us know.
