I agree the conga line pathing that's still around in A17, does make things easier. What I see missing and what might spread them out without huge changes to the AI is adding space requirements. Right now and in all previous, the zombies can pack large numbers of zombies into a single block space. If zombie X consumes 30% of a block's space, two more can enter that block and the 4th has to find a different route. But they should avoid the jump to just stack on top of one another, that's not a solid block there landing on. Doing a 7th , 7th day last night tested a base design, numerous zombies attacking a damaged block making for zombies in a barrel for easy kills.

TFP said in the next patch they are adding randomness to zombie behaviour.

 

I think maybe we've only seen the beginning of what A17's AI has to offer.

 

Might be awhile, but eventually I think we're going to see a really good product emerge.

They seem really bent on making this work well.
