B221 nerfed way too hard

So much fun got sucked out in this last update. I very much appreciate the performance boost, the bug fixes, the stuff getting polished up... but I feel like I actually need to turn my difficulty UP now.

Wandering hordes are tiny. Gamestage is really slow (like it was way too fast in the last update, now we're lucky if we even get dogs at horde night?) Playing on normal in the first 2 updates, we dropped hordes down to 8 because of the block damage and crazy gamestage, but now I feel like we need to crank it again.

I feel like this got tuned way too far int he other direction.

I feel the same way. I am probably in the minority but i definitely enjoyed the super-high difficulty from the first A17 release. This is why i recently made a post about giving us more choice. They should definitely add more fine-grain control over the difficulty settings (just like they did with the settings for zombie walk/run speed).

I would love to see TFP add in the options to adjust wandering horde size, gamestage multiplier, zombie health, zombie spawn rates, zombie detection sensitivity, etc. This way we can create a custom sandbox world that has settings we like. it would be super easy to code as well since it would just be an in-game way to edit the xml files controlling these things.

I loved that feeling of being terrified when i saw ferals and cops inside simple POI's on day one and wandering hordes that were 25+ zombies. Ive been playing this game so long that it takes a lot to challenge me but i dont really like higher difficulty settings because they make the zombies into bullet sponges. if there was a way to make the settings harder but without needing to headshot a zombie 20x to kill it i would be all for it. And if people didnt like it that way they could adjust the settings to their taste and everybody would be happy

I agree here. For the first time this Alpha I've gone to level 5 difficulty and still nothing. It took a huge step back in terms of difficulty and I fear it is only going to get worse from here.

I know WHY they are doing it. The majority of the LOUDEST voices are asking for nerfs everywhere and the Pimps have to oblige. We go through this every Experimental. Thankfully there are mods. I've already written over 70 for my personal use and for use in Ravenhearst.

For a split second I had hope that vanilla was going to whet my appetites. As much as I think the Exp has been their best one yet, it fatlers in the difficulty department. If you are interested give my modlet collection a check in the modding section. I have a lot of tweaks that increase difficulty and I also fill requests so if you have any ideas shoot them my way.

For me the biggest culprits are all zombie related. They really went out of their way to make them so meaningless. All this work on AI and oathing and in the end who cares. As long as the builders and the miners are happy then I guess all is right in the world.

I mean, I'm a builder and a miner, and I was really ticked off that they were taking SUCH a crap on it in A17. But my biggest problem is just gathering material. It's so tedious now, between stamina and harvesting being so reduced until you put perks in. We had to throw away a couple base designs, but we've got a perfectly functional one now. It's just material gathering suuuucks.

But honestly this is the first time I've felt actual motivation to go out looting with the boys. Most of the time, I build, they loot, and we all kill zombies on horde night. Now I want to go out, do quests... the fact we can share them makes it way more efficient to do it together. And since it takes all three of us to gather the materials for the base, we do that together now too. Block damage is pretty easy to adjust to.

But the alarm of "oh jeeze like 30 soldiers heading up the road to us!" has been replaced by "three putrid girls milling around in a nearby field. Want to kill them or not?" And screamers hardly ever go off, and when they do they've only got like 4 friends. It's a sad time.

One of the reasons I haven't really played yet is the resource gathering changes.

Hit everything to gather (including stuff you'd rather not have it actually...)

Massive Stamina usage and pauses while mining.

If I have to pause, while swinging my pick axe, I'm just probably not going to play entirely. Mining is already mindless. Best thing to do is zone out and mine. Now... I... I can't just zone out and mine at my Max potential? I have to focus through that boring crap? Pass... Not interested... At all.

i can only speak for me but

* Remove all current levelgates under 40

* Make the last perk of each line cost 5 Points

* Raise amount and chance of coffe in vending machines

* Add glue to vending machines

* Set glue value (stability) of Gravel and sand to 5 (One broad tunnels = safe)

And i buy the game as 1.0 Release

(The tediousness is removed by this changes)

I really liked the new zombie movement options. I include for all "run" and ordinary zombies cease to be easy targets. "Run" + "Sprint" + "Nightmare" = а great variety of zombies. Although zombies are still very stupid, but it makes the game an element of surprise and a little dangerous.

Really a mod to fix AI zombies? Really make a mod that players were afraid of his shadow? I like how in other games enemies try to get around the player, freeze preparing to jump, strafe. I like when the game keeps in suspense. So you can't hide behind a wall. Each Horde must be willing to build more traps and fortifications.

And now for the sake of "I'm just a miner" made it so that you can put a few blocks of concrete and go to drink tea in the kitchen.

Ash will confirm!
