Junuxx
The pitch black part of the night (10-12pm and 4-6am if you play with 18hr days) is when the moon is low and casts extremely dark shadows on the whole world. I just realized that you can turn shadows off entirely, and that results in being able to see plenty at night. Perfect for those early days without a mining helmet. Junuxx
But that would burn your eyes out or require constant adjustment. Plus, the moon actually doesn't cast sharp, deep shadows.

Viktoriusiii
How about... and this is just a random thought... its WAY cooler to actually need torches so see? I love it. In previous alphas (without gamma) I was able to see everything at night perfectly. So this new feel of unease reall suits me. This is one of the few features that I feel really enhance the feeling of 7d2d. Got a torch/flashlight? You can see, but zombies can see you. Don't have one? Be in the dark, surrounded by zombies. I agree. Except torches generating heat when they have no LOS to the light.
