Random Gen A17

Hello All,

I love many of the new additions in A17. I must say, at first, I did not. However, as I've continued to play I have died several times. I can't recall dying in A16 at all. Love the difficulty factor, the zombie intelligence.

Anyways, with that out of the way. I feel as though Random Gen Worlds are chaotic in the sense of hot and cold temperatures. Of course snow will be cold, burnt biome hot and forest generally walking the line between the two.

My question is whether or not the current state of Random Gen map generation is staying the way it is or changing? Currently, it seems predominantly snow or forest with many random patches of other biomes smattering the landscape. Is this a generation issue or is this the way it's meant to be and will continue to be?

Basically, if anyone has information as to whether random gen maps are evolving or are staying the way they are currently, it would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

I hear its being worked on. No timeframe given though. One can only hope for improvements by the time A17 stable is out

Yeah I hear ya. I like the new POIs and all, but I'd still like to get into a city with the old skyscrapers of old. They may be there, somewhere, I just haven't found them yet.

I'm pretty sure I remember them saying they're not releasing stable until the RWG is where they want it. They know it's not working properly.

Also, as for temperature: get a duster. Once you get one, you will not have to worry about hot or cold anymore.

If that's true, it's great to hear. I figured it wasn't where they want it to be, huge relief there. I don't quite understand the 'county' or area switching as i type in my new game seed either. Seems like presets? If so, its not really randomly generated is it? I'm confused by the addition of that. Anyone know what that's about?

The name of the seed generates a "world" location. If you want to, you can start a new game with that same world, by selecting the county/country/valley/etc in the drop-down where you'd normally choose RWZ or Navaz. So you can actually have multiple worlds in the same seed without having the name overlap issue.

Also, the skyscrapers are currently bugged as they spawn in the "downtown" area of a city and for some reason not all of the downtown buildings are spawning so there is a thread a couple of days back on how to easily edit the xml to get them to spawn if you want. :)

Ok I understand. Thanks!
