Dosu Kinuta
Howdy fellow gamers! Does anyone have lag on A17 version or it's just me? I know that it's still experimental, but come on, A16.4 ran way smoother than A17. I had like 40 FPS in A16.4, but now I got massive lag spikes, don't know why, and BTW my computer is not a potato... Another weird thing that I noticed was that in A17 when I've put all setting to the LOWEST possible, I had like 20 FPS, but when I've put everything to the maximum possible, I had like 5-8 FPS drop...I went from 20 FPS to 14-17 FPS, which is not that big of a deal. I don't know if I should have posted this as a bug in the A17 experimental bug thread, but yeah, I am just curious if you have the same problem as me. SylenThunder
So FPS drops / stutter. Not lag.
stupid
Yeah, get it right, noob. /s To actually answer your question, yes a lot of us are experiencing it. I usually get it as soon as a zombie locks on to me.
Snowydeath
To be honest, if you have only 20 FPS you do have a potato... I run at Med/High settings with 24-60FPS with drops from Horde spawns and sleeper spawns since I'm using an old PC for '09 right now. With patches though the framerate will become more stable as they cleanup code. We are in A17e right now, not the stable branch anyway.
storm6436
Yeah, that stutter every... sixty seconds or so? Given how regular it is, I'm thinking it's trash collection or some such. What's super frustrating about it on my end is that I generally sit around 40+ fps on my system (FX-9590 W/R9 Nano, so it's not a super great box)... but over the course of a real life night worth of play, at least 2-3 times that stutter turns into frame freeze. Displayed image just freezes, but the game keeps going (ie. ambient sounds play, hitting space to jump makes the I'm jumping noise but the render remains frozen.) Have to alt-tab out and kill process. Last I checked, it's not heat issues on my box so *shrug* That and the "Opening your map for longer than a few seconds usually induces the stream reader bug" bit... frustrating. Wulf
It has nothing to do with FPS. I can have 100FPS and still get that stutter. It was in previous alpha's as well.

It is bad garbage collection, or a bug in garbage collection. Someone posted some ideas on a workaround fix on the Steam forum, but stuff gets lost so fast over there. - - - Updated - - - It has nothing to do with FPS. I can have 100FPS and still get that stutter. It was in previous alpha's as well. That would be the micro-stutter, which also isn't lag. I've only ever seen it when pushing over 75 FPS. A16 ran waaaay smoother with like 40-50 FPS and the devs praised A17 that it will run so much better than any version. Since I can run A16 with no problems at mid-high settings(which should be less optimised than A17 that they praised so much) you call my PC a potato? That is 0 logic. Forgive me if I was harsh, but this is not optimization at all. I know, I know it's experimental and I have a normal PC (I never said I have a super advanced PC) : -memory: 12GB RAM -processor: i5 4690 -motherboard : gaming 5 gigabyte z97 -graphics card: Nvidia GTX
krytek
On my server i had no sutter for the first 70 days, then when my neighbor started building his big base, I get it every 30-60 seconds. The most annoying is when I try to jump above some traps/spikes I made and it stutter right as i jump, instead I just end up in the pit and takes tons of damage *sigh*. Pichii
Stutter is almost gone for me with the A17.4 build hotfixes. I lag for maybe .5s when 3 or more people are near and were doing blood moon but thats it. I can generally even stream while running a server without lag nowadays. Note: The lag is generally fixed up pretty well by lowering shadow quality/distance, despite hardware.
