How about some skills and perks for base-building?

Make basebuilding great again. I am all for building perks.

Sure, but this isn't a case of someone simply not liking the A17 mechanics. This is a case of someone who wants to go back to A11 days.

I am pretty sure he doesn´t want to go back to A11. He wants A17 without levelgating. Or skills in general.

@Ldog This game now is a FPS with rpg/crafting elements. Sadly.

Bingo!

And yes, I know that is not gonna happen, and no I wouldn't revert to any earlier build. I may miss the feel of the older versions but the game gets better every version.

Back to topic, so yeah, while it would fit the current game style of having to get perks to get what I consider basic core abilities (headshots, bonus damage, making things) I'd rather see blocks get more health and/or zeds do less damage to them.

Honestly the repair perk doesn't sound unreasonable, even a 10% per level instead of what's proposed, but considering the way repairs work I don't think it is even possible to adjust the materials cost in a granular fashion unless something were very damaged or they completely refactored quantities used. I'm sure we've all punched our share of placed blocks because of the swing bug, so take workbench for example, I punched it 1 time, it takes a forged iron, mechanical and I forget off the top of my head last material to repair that 2% damage. Bladetraps are another great example since they take damage from normal use, repairs are ridiculous.

I've basically resigned myself to sitting this game out until an enterprising modder with skills beyond mine fixes the building and mining. They are the only two reasons I play! Sure, killing zombies is fun and horde night can be a blast - but it ADDS to the experience, it shouldn't be the ENTIRE experience.

I get that a lot of people like that 7 Days to Die is becoming another Rust/The Forest/Epoch/DayZ, but for me, that just moves it away from a pedestal of its own (Minecraft but BETTER!) and into a crowded field of games I stopped playing long ago.

With the current release tailored only to people who want to spend 100% of time killing zombies, going to traders - rinse repeat...It's a hard sell.

So, I'm just going to continue to monitor the forums and keep an eye out for mods that will return the gameplay to that which I have enjoyed since A8. And I have a feeling with a few delicate tweaks we can get closer to the A16 experience with A17 stuff - which would be amazing.

One redeeming very Minecraftish quality 7DTD retains, in fact even improves upon, is how easy it is to mod it.

Not that I don't enjoy killing zombies...traders not so much, they're ♥♥♥♥s. I like the questing even though I get to spend less time doing it than I like, and yet...you did hit the nail on the head...what really drew me to this game was it was "Minecraft but BETTER!" (I always thought "Adult Minecraft" myself but I would never utter that outloud because everyone just thinks adult means porn, even my wife)
