A17 No food ? No water ?

I've been playing since version 8. 3,000 hours logged in. So I'm not just a newbie who doesnt understand the game.

My big concern is TFPs are dumbing the game down.

It's a simulation of trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse. So, why not try to simulate more ??

There is NO feeling of getting hungry or thirsty anymore... and when you DO "consume" you just get the option to

" USE ". Why even bother calling it "food and drink" why not just call it "Glop", a representation of sustenance that effects stamina only?

Question for TFPs : What was so hard about calling it eating and drinking? Really ?.... "use" ?

I want a THIRST meter... I want a HUNGER meter... and I want a BODY TEMP. meter.

I mean, why dumb down eating and drinking? I used to be able to eat a big meal,,, get full and then go exploring for the day.

Food and drink, cultivating, cooking... i really liked these aspects of the game and poof.. gone.

Now it's gone. with all due respect: crap-ola.

There is a lot of good things about A17, but I really dont understand why they emphasized the making the Blocks look soooo perfectly, but they made Eating and Drinking and Staying Warm or Cool... a backburner, nay an unimportant aspect of a survival simulation.

I think it's just misconception. It took me a little while but I realized it's more indepth than that. There is a feeling of thirst or hunger and both the bars, it's in the cap being reduced. Burn calories by fighting/running/farming and your max stamina goes down and needs to be replenished by eating. Same for max HP, need to eat/heal to get it back gradually. Also temp does matter a lot, I noticed when you overheat your perception goes down during the heating debuff, reducing say, archery power. I like it, in fact, that survival aspect was dead in a16 honestly lol. Eat 1 meat stew and be good for 3 days in game, gone that is thankfully. In the past, by day 15 I had hundreds of meat/veggies that I couldn't do a damn thing with because my character was constantly full.

I understand what they have done. I just dont agree with it.

Stamina is NOT, in my opinion, Hunger.

In real life, I can be perfectly full and not thirsty,,, yet after running for a while.. my stamina is done.

Stamina is Stamina. Hunger is Hunger. Thirst is Thirst.

i did think it was too simple to level up to the point where you never got hungry.

but I'll stand by my point that Hunger and Thirst are Separate from Stamina... and though they effect each other... they shouldn't be clumped into the same category. Cause, really, do you have a big breakfast and then go jogging for a mile... you just need to rest to catch your breath... you dont reach into your pack and eat a can of chili so you can run again.

Those three attributes have an interesting equilibrium with each other.... it's beyond me why they had to dumb this down.

Lol that’s exactly what TFP did, while your full you still run out of stamina after a while, what is your argument?

So really your whole problem is because they combined the hunger bar into the stamina bar? Is that what your whining about? Its not really dumbed down at all. Water also effects your hp/stam regen, mostly stam though. I do admit though it is pretty annoying how fast food goes down based on how much stamina you use, I've had to eat like 4x as often in a17 than I ever did in a16 because of this.

Food is never an issue in survival games past the first day or two usually. During the early access streams I heard so many streamers complain about lack of food and water. Do they not know there is vending machines everywhere that restock daily that can have both? Though I do admit imo they should never restock, once you buy em out thats it, with the exceptions of ones inside trader poi's as there is an actual human there who could refill it.

I think the solution would be to add a fullness or satiation buff where whatever you eat goes past the 100% hunger. You can put a cap on that so people don't just eat tons of food at once and are good for 7 days lol.

Stam can still be the range it needs to be, 100 without the perks, but that max bar won't start get black until the hunger falls to meet its number. This will make the good foods like meat stew still substantial.

You can use a mod to show meters for it. But your stamina bar gives you a good gauge as to when you need to eat and drink. If the max starts to dip you need to check on your food and water :)

Temperture is more important than ever. If you get too hot or cold you'll get random stat reductions, losing skills attached to them until you're no longer hot/cold.

Yeh, cos vending machines form an important part of all my survivalist apocalypse fantasies. Roaming from city to city knicking chips and mars bars. :D

I know i for one can run better on a half empty or empty stomach. And if youre using your body's aerobic energy system, all you need is oxygen and water and you can continue to work for hours non-stop. Tieing food into stamina and having your maximum stamina not gradually return over time while resting (a.k.a. not running or swinging a pick) is weird.

I want at least a hotkey for seeing temperature. Or am i missing something here? Right now i have to use the mouse to see it.

And yeah, the survival part still feels like it only exists so they can say it´s a survival game. That´s like giving pac man a one shot gun with no additional ammo and saying pacman is a shooter now.
