Biome effects and more dangerous biomes.

Just as the title says, I would like to suggest that biomes have different environment effects on players and that there be more dangerous counterparts to the existing biomes. Biome variety is good but why should someone go to the more dangerous areas? I'm sure the devs could create some special tools or quest related reasons but hide some decorative items there that cant be crafted and Ill be on my way. Some examples: Snow: Exertion in the snow biome drains stamina faster. Swimming in frigid water drains health. On the plus side the water is clean and food doesn't spoil. More dangerous: Deep snow slows movement like sand. Health drains while outdoors. Swimming rapidly drains health. Outdoors, most zombies are frozen solid. Desert: In addition to slower movement on sand, hydration drops faster under the sun. At night, the cold desert could give the same stamina penalty as snow. More dangerous. The intense heat drops stamina and hydration level quickly. Outdoors, most zombies are dried out husks. More dangerous forest: Zombie wolf territory. You start coming across deer and pig carcasses torn to shreds. Then you hear the howls all around you... Zombie bears would do the job as well.

I had almost the same idea few days ago. But now crossed my mind, that they should remove snow area and make seasons instead in green, wasteland, swamp regions. And somewhere in north/south to make polar area. In winter/snow areas if you get wet after swimming it will drain your health, because your clothes are wet and it will continue until you have dry clothes, which will be faster dry in warmer environment of course. Water in lakes freezes (over time), so when you want to get inside you have to break ice, which is stronger than snow and can be used also an building material for shelter. Advantage: Zombies can't run for at all or for a long time, because they are frozen. And one small advantage: to live in polar area or during winter. But for that they should change other mechanics. If you try destroy something with bare hands, it will always hurt you. And it will also hurt zombies. And during winter it will hurt them more, so if you build something, it will last and protect you longer. In desert not only hydratation drops faster, bud also stamina level when you run and stamina won't restore when you walk or your thirst is below 33%. Advantage? No winter and drastic weather changes maybe and like you said, that zombies will be dried out, so they can't run or run for a short time only. And armor can affect you as well in this areas/seasons. In winter it would be better to wear some cloth, that doesn't give you enough protection, but keeps you warmer and reduce chance to get cold or have life drained due to cold. Iron armor can get rusty when it is wet after swimming or rain, so it will get damaged. It also decreases your stamina faster, because it is heavy. But it might change when you have the right skill for wearing heavy armor. Leather armor might be more waterproof, but once it gets wet, you will need longer time/higher temperature to dry it.

[QUOTE=Drifter;143852] More dangerous forest: Zombie wolf territory. You start coming across deer and pig carcasses torn to shreds. Then you hear the howls all around you... Of course, it is a curiosity that dogs and hornets became zombified while rabits, pigs, and deer are immune. Did all the other animals get hunted to extinction? I realize that model building and animation takes a lot of time to do, but I'd be all for more variety in zombies.
