Gravoc
Hi guys, just experienced my 3rd MD5 in 70 days.. my friends and I are struggling to find the motivation to continue. I just read somewhere that the MD5’s occur where bedrolls are placed. Is there any substance to this? This would solve all of our problems, if we could just place bedrolls away from the house and never have to worry about our base nuking itself ever again. Outlaw_187
What was your md5? Did your whole base reset, just half of it, just your storage crates/chests disappear, etc? I've personally never heard of bedrolls causing anything themselves but who knows what triggers these damn md5's. Make a bug report as detailed as you can. sandman2838
MD5 terrain rewrites are the plague of this game, especially for xbox users. The good news is the team has made great strides in reducing the number, but there are so many possible triggers it is like finding a open box of needles in a haystack. Also, there are steps you can take to reduce the chance of md5's. First, every time you shut down make sure you completely shut the game down (that means after quitting, go to manage games screen and quit again) otherwise the game is in a sort of standby mode and doesn't release the cache. Second, limit your game sessions to 1 hour before quitting as above and restarting. I know this can suck, but it sucks far less than a rewrite. Third, if you do still get a crash, immediately go to the manage game page, and delete the local save. Make sure you only delete the local save not all saves. This will allow the game to load a slightly earlier save from the cloud (sync) and you should only lose a few minutes of game play. This can, once again, be tedious, but it is better than rebuilding everything. Unfortunately this is all we got. Until the dev's manage to either a) eliminate all the possible triggers (see the needle thing) or b) change the way the game saves (a is more likely) we are forced to live with things as they are and use work arounds. A bit of encouragement though. I was used to getting rewrites consistently around day 20-30, and quite often after that. Since implementing the above listed procedures I have not had a single rewrite. As to the bedroll question, I have had rewrites that have taken it and rewrites that have ignore it so "Who Knows!" Ignoringmywife1
It always happens to me when I'm explosive mining. So I stopped and haven't got one since.
GRAW2ROBZ
I got my second MD5 bug. Same server. But day 240. Seems a bit odd this late in my saved game. First MD5 bug in same server was around day 15 or so. I was in my workbench at day 240 at old base. Graphics were flickering in the workbench. Didn't show all the menus. Then about the 2 hour mark and bam game black screen and dash boarded. Logged back in and the bunker dead center in the general store town near Joel's trading post. That bunker was ripped in half. Still my trench with spikes and tree fort and catwalks connecting around two of the buildings all in tact yet. But I been dash boarded daily on this game. Made it this far till day 240 for my second MD5 bug.
mgood1845
Our MD5s My group of friends was on Day 62, placed bedrolls at a secondary location because we just finished our first concrete base. After hoard night, we went back to our original location with our first set of bedrolls and our entire base had reset. No forges, storage, workbench, campfire etc. Everything reverted back to day one, except for a portion of the outside of the house. I am the host of the game on the standard map. I would get booted from game world at random intervals, most common would be when the Air Drop at 12. We had experienced a loss of 1/2 our base and trench around it. I took a photo of it on my cell to send to a friend. We recovered, re-built the fort and until this last error were working along just fine. Observations when being booted would include the following: Menu Flickering drop of frame rate a (7) loading wheel in upper right hand corrner Because I am an XB1 user, I am not sure how to provide more information about the saved game. If given instructions I can look into and be happy to report. My friends and I like many I have seen are disheartened with the boots, and MD5. Hopefully the team can correct asap. The game is a blast, and was really enjoying it. Suggestion to Devs, if it is possible to keep player progression in one game, and start a new game, that would be helpful, if MD5 can't be corrected, maybe retaining progression would be something you might offer. So you start a new game, at you past level, with all skills and perks. Just an idea.
Troubled soul
We thought so but No. We moved our bedrolls away from out base after out 3rd MD5. Less than a week later and we have just lost everything for a 4th time. Developers have never replied to my 1st support request submitted well over a month ago. Seems no one really cares. Developers have never replied to my 1st support request submitted well over a month ago. Seems no one really cares. You actually did get a response, but not the one you wanted - your bug report about the MD5 didn't contain the necessary information so a moderator moved it to the general support section. If you want the team's help with this, you need to submit a proper bug report, giving details about what your game settings were, what was lost and what you were doing before it happened. If you use the guide (in a sticky at the top of the bug report section), this will guide you.
