The battle between the Shaman and Survivors escalated to dangerous levels.

Growing stronger in the Burnt Forest, the Shaman and his Nightmares were spreading across the earth unchecked...

The decision to nuke the world devastated the land, creating vast areas of wasteland to stop the spread of the burnt forests.

After your pathetic attempt to assassinate the Shaman, you were recalled to one of the last survivor base camps.

Time passed, with the Survivors leaving the rest of the world for the Shaman.

Nuclear winter has set in, freezing the land and its time in its icy grip.

The Shaman hasn't been seen since winter has set in, but the haunting cries and noise carries over to the mountain range, growing closer to the last camp.

Investigate and destroy those creatures!

*****

Based on the ComSens Mod from CraterCreator, with RainUI from Dust2Death, the Winter Project shoves you into a world generated from one of Tin's special rwg mixer's, which is covered in snow for a unique play style never experienced yet.

See the world from a completely different point of view, and face new and old challenges as you explore and experience a world frozen during the last Christmas Holiday...

Merry "ComSens", welcome to the Winter Project!

After killing the deer, I've been SUPER weary of killing boars and rabbits but so far so good... saw an airdrop, had hoped to see Santa, but hey, if that's my only disappointment then by the Gods, you guys have succeeded.

Died once to Stompy (hadn't realized I had PvP on) and another time to bleeding out, and 99% of what I'm doing is food foraging. It's a rough world out there, as it should be.

Jax would love this.

Leveling isn't slowed by gating or artificial constructs, it's slowed by fracking starvation, lack of plants in the world, and having to dig out poi's... =)

We had hoped to change the airdrop, but as its a prefab entity, that presented a challenge we just didn't have enough time to solve. Santa is alive and well though, just not airborne currently. Looking forward to watching your day 2 soon.

Thats true enough, couple of us have been alternating between trying not to freeze(the wetness is a killer), not to starve and not to die of thirst. Not to mention the friggin zombies. Having the trader pois the way they are is brilliant. They make for a great base.

That great to hear. On day 4, no deaths but was at 1 hitpoint at 1 point...rarely over 1/2 health..always hungry...got my first farm going...made grassy ground for the harvest of...grass...lol.

So far I've killed guppy by shooting his foot with an arrow, killed Anabelle with my snow shovel, and killed Anabelle with an exploding barrel (was killing a rad feral cop in the med tower).

People gotta learn not to stand in front of the crazy man with the assault rifle :p

I unlocked concrete last night and the farm is coming along for corn, potatoes, and the underground mushroom farm is expanding. Almost on top of the food shortage :)

Lumberjack gave me a nice yellow steel pick too

I killed an Elsa... She only got me once with the twirling.

Elsa? Ok, we can call her that... :-) Shes not that hard, just relentless. Now that I have 2 weeks vacation and more time I plan to overhaul most of these new entities, redoing some of the wonky animations and adding in Tin's new AI fixes. Some are using vanilla xml, hence the tendency to circle a bit.

The mod is amazing! Great job coming up with another way to make the same game that much different. And so much more challenging.

Few dumb questions:

- Is the current altitude being a large, constant number a bug or one more way to add to the challenge?

- Why is it snowing under 5-10 meters of snow?

- Looking at the XML files I'm not seeing any coal or oil shale in the snow biome. So no large amounts of gunpowder or gas?

We aren't sure why the altitude is broken. The mod shouldn't have touched it, but obviously something has.

It's snowing under 5-10 meters of snow because the snow isn't really snow, and is actually allows light to go through. I think that throws off the weather effect, because it thinks you are on the surface.

That is correct, it's an extremely rare resource.

Did you change any of the TemperatureHeight elevation values in the weathersurvival.xml? Certain alterations to them can affect that.

<TemperatureHeight height="0" addDegrees="-50" />
<TemperatureHeight height="10" addDegrees="-50" />
<TemperatureHeight height="20" addDegrees="-50" />
<TemperatureHeight height="30" addDegrees="-50" />
<TemperatureHeight height="40" addDegrees="-50" />
<TemperatureHeight height="50" addDegrees="-50" />

I changed this. I left the Height alone, but changed the degrees.

yeah the snow covering stuff atm is a little too much for me not to mention it buried my quest trader and i couldnt dig out the trader as its protected area. But all in all its a great mod love the custom mobs and items but i feel hunger and thirst degradation are a little insane as im fighting atm to keep above 0 hunger and thrist been at zero on both 3 times on first day
