Just a question: Why are we getting info from Joel's Twitter feed when you'd think the "Official" TFP Forums would get this info at the same time? As the trader images have been on his twitter for awhile already.

Srry, just getting a little tired of getting info from multiple different source areas, TFP Forums/Twitter/FB/ etc,. Thank god they aren't using more lol

 

Well considering I don't "twit" unless there is no "w" I won't get to share in this stream of knowledge without Roland's help.

Well I would think the "Official" TFP forum would(should?!) have all the relevant info. And... >.> I would definitely prefer the no "w" version as well >.>

I understand the desire, if not the necessity, of using many different media channels to get word out. That being said... you'd think someone would make a locked post to show the artwork in a single, easy to view, place instead of having an Easter-egg hunt across the great data gathering mogul's of the internet.

He is dead set against posting goals any longer. If you want a list of possible goals then go to the A16 thread and look at all the stuff that got pushed back. Those MIGHT be things being worked on for A17 but then again they might also have new priorities.

 

Underneath the section where I post links to announcements by Madmole I will also list confirmed features for A17 as they are revealed so it is not exactly the same as striking though accomplished goals but you can tape up the list of rumored features on your bathroom mirror and cross them off as they get listed here. :)

 

 

 

Here is what I have come up with from memory to help you out:

These are all things talked about in the past and may or may not come in A17. Certainly they won't ALL come and Madmole won't give an official word on which of these they will be working on but you can certainly play the home game by crossing off stuff as you see it appear here once he officially confirms that it is going into A17.

My players don't frequent the forums, so I try and let them know what's going on, even though I tell them to go watch Joel's videos. I understand his decision but its a bit disheartening not to have anything to look forward to or to get excited about, except for maybe the occasional video. I understand most of what was accomplished for A16 was coding and other behind the scenes stuff, for the most part, but after a week in vanilla 16 it's repetitive again. I run 2 servers, will be running at least a 3rd when the Starvation mod is ready. Right now I just spend my game time admining. It's nice to have hope, even if its false hope lol.

Yea I have to agree. The hype is what keeps things going. It is kinda liking watching tv shows. The previews keep you interested. The moment you stop hearing anything and they get weird about when the next part starts is when you lose interest and then next think you know it is cancelled. Seen this happen to some really good shows in the past.

When was the last preview you watched that showed you what might be in the show and not what is actually gonna be on the show?

 

Exactly. And that is the approach taken now. Only tell / preview what is in, when it is ab-so-lu-te-ly certain its gonna be in.

 

What's the problem?

Exactly. All it means is a slower start. Once they have stuff done they will show it and it will still be shown long before you get to play it. I have posted a pretty good list of "goals" so you have something to hope for.

All of these people talking of going to beta soon I sure hope not.

 

There is so much to still be done, tweaked and hopefully added. I see many many more alphas before any sort if beta. The game is great, but at the moment there is no real quest/story/lore, no other survivors or npc other than traders, and so much potential to be had. Don't rush the process.

 

With thay said I'm stoked to see what a17 may or may not have once the time comes. Also Madmole, I've been missing your videos man, get back around to making some whem time allows, even if they are just you playing on a random gen or something

I can understand this and agree for the most part but on the other hand they hired more people so more might be getting done/added per alpha. So only time will tell and we will just have to wait and see what happens.

 

I'm pretty excited to see A17 come and what all gets done as well.

Please Do not implement stuff and not release and then add more and more and more stuff until everything shown breaks.

Then what do you have to release? Nothing that's what you have!!! That or another buggy release that will take months and months of sifting through code to find and fix. Just like we just got.

 

Work on one thing and when you get it working release it in an experimental so those who want to test can and those that do not can keep playing.

But make sure you call it a Buggy Test Experimental Build or something like that so most will shy away from it.

Personally I like this more as well. It might not be perfect but I see it as a "Slow and Steady" way to start things off.

 

Then as they begin to implement content and features we'll be able to (Hopefully) see as much as we did previously. Only this time we'll know that it's included in the update instead of it possibly being delayed due to unexpected issues. So it might take a bit longer, but hopefully it will pay off.

 

Also pretty curious to see how fast things move along with the new people they've hired. Hopefully it's not another Alpha 16 in terms of waiting lol.

Question to other players --> Has the spawning changed since A16 release or is it still empty cities and ninja teleporting sleepers?

 

Stopped played A16 quite fast after release, world gen was messed up and spawning was very bad. Hoping these things are improved now.

Since Madmole from now on is only talking about stuff that will definitely make it into the game, you can calculate your chances to get an official word about "promised" features :crushed:

 

It follows that the final list of things in A17 will be available only when A17 is finally published as experimental. Nothing really changed except that we will get informed of features from one or two weeks later (like the wallpaper) to months later for bigger features.

 

I think it is pretty safe to assume that the improved but unfinished stealth system will be in A17. About the rest, you yourself obviously know that "promises" isn't exactly the right word. It was just info about stuff they were working on and trying it out, with no guarantee it will make it into the game.

So... umm... it's been a bit too quiet from madmole. I know he doesn't want to mention stuff they "want" to do but only bring up topics that are in the works for A17. Well, I would think by this time that they are already in the works on new things so why not bring those up?

 

Anyway, ever since this A17 thread showed up, I've been checking every day and almost every hour for something new from the team. We're already at page 49 of the thread and not one thing new has been mentioned for A17.

 

Please give us something! :crushed:
