There doesn't have to be anything new between experimental and stable; that's the whole point of having an experimental version first. You push the new content to experimental, and if it's stable, you push that tested content to stable. You don't usually push new content from an experimental build to a stable one, unless it's minor changes, because that stuff would go untested.

Wen is beta A18? Thx

If i understand the plans right arround end of the year (If you mean beta 1)

A18 short before

So far i understand/see it

A17.3 (mainly RWG improvements) March-june

A18 Experimental near christmas

A18 Stable if possible Christmas

Last A18 February-March

Then a few betas

Would mean somewhere arround summer next year 1.0

(hopefully followed by many free and not free DLC´s)

Yes. The point of experimental is to test things publicly, with the people who choose to opt in, before everyone gets it as a stable version.

@Faatal:

First, thanks to whomever exposed hand positions in vehicles.xml. Would you mind also exposing feet, and possibly knee position as well? Right now some lower custom vehicles give the "Flintstone" effect, as seen in the photo below, and some more narrower vehicles have the PC bleed into the vehicle, and there's not a lot I can do about it without moving feet/knees around.

Please consider this, thanks!

...also, any tips you could give that would prevent the vehicle from shaking on the ground while sitting still would be great.

Feet are exposed and used on the bicycle pedals (IKFoot?Position, IKFoot?Rotation). I have only used them on those pedals, so they may not work in a vehicle without <property class="pedals">. Knee bending, leg position, is from the anims or IK, so I don't have direct control over that.

Physics stability can be a finicky thing. You would have try different values for the RigidBody and Wheel Collider components.

The landscape looks nice, but the most important detail in that image is the fact that Joel is playing alpha 18.

You think that means that A18 will bring us new RGW, not A17.x ? I think they can test it both in a17.x and a18.

I just read the new patch notes for Alpha 17.2. does this mean its stable or is it still experimental?

depends on your version of stable, if you mean it doesnt crash every 2 mins but has exact same bugs as experimental then yeah.. its stable. rwg what many ( not tfp ) consider a major feature is broken as heck and is on the back burner like a console update.

Latest tweet from Joel

Am I the only one thinking this is a backwards way of doing rivers? I'm not really seeing any rivers in that picture. I'm seeing something that could be described as a tidal delta or, with a bit more height, a fjord... possibly... with a bit of a squint... a canal.

Wouldn't it make more sense to fix water physics before trying to make rivers?

There's the general assumption that a river flows downhill. With the island terrain we now have it would have made sense for a river to flow from high points in the middle to the surrounding ocean. I kind of thought one of the reasons that a huge splatmap was used is because it's far easier to generate water flowing from high to low with a pre-generated map (just follow the darkest neighbouring pixel) than it is to do it on-the-fly.

Small info you might have missed: Either Madmole or Roland (or both?) said recently that Kinjaaju (the RWG guy) and a graphics guy are working fulltime on RWG at the moment to get it ready for A17.x or A18 (depending on their progress).

MM talks about lakes and rivers and shows a picture of only a lake.

What a load of horse♥♥♥♥. Literally 5 posts above yours (never mind several others in this thread) is a link to a picture of the state of RWG development. Besides gun parts and fjords it's the most-talked about issue lately. Read moar, cry less.
