[Known Issue] Terrain Rewriting (MD5 Issue)

Clare

Recommended Posts

It can happen without a crash, the Tree reset that hotfix 6.1 fixed would have occurred without a crash.

BunnyMaster could you tell me the name of your save game? This is what determines what spawns, if I name it the same as yours the same map will generate. Did you change your languages between logging in and out or any console settings when doing this?

Thanks,

Clare

Clare,

Name of the save is TWD Charlotte.

G/L, and thanks for staying on top of things.

This bug is killing this amazing game

I just lost everything. And I must say that I don't like that a bug/glitch or whatever can wipe a hole base plus everything inside. I hope for developers that this has TOP priority, otherwise I think players will stop playing pretty quick. I rarely go on a forum, and I can live with bug, glitches and crashes and I understand that the game is not finished, but this is too much way too much. The game is not even playable, fun or enjoyable when you can lose hours of work in a second, and its vary sad because I really like your game and work, but please fix this asap.

Let me just ask this

I have lost a lot of time building my defensive base against hordes and just lost everything, there are so many resources and time put into building concrete structures and gathering materials. How can you possibly trust in a game that can crash and lose everything at any moment? Only one save so you can't really get anything back at all. At least if I had more than one save I could get most of my items back. Just curious how they plan on us having fun only to be let down by this? I'm just so confused how I can trust this game to require all this effort only to lose it all for a glitch?

Xbox one

I have experienced my 4th MD5 error. All terrain rewrites occurred with these settings.

Map: Random gen

Seed: crackpot20

Location: Green Forest Biome

Time of day: During Daylight

Errors occured during Single player and split screen.

Each rewrite occurred in a different "sector". Not positive on the actual term to describe the entire section of land that rewrites.

After the first 2 errors occurred, I reported in another thread and began doing hard resets as sugguested. Unfortunately the hard resets were unsuccessful in preventing the next 2.

I specifically would like to report a commonality I have detected with each rewrite. Each rewrite occurred after reloading the game after a crash. Both with and without hard resets before loading.

More importantly, before each crash, I detected inconsistencies in character movement. Similar to rubber banding. Moving forward then the camera would stager and then I my character position would be approximately 3 blocks forward without the animation of the movement. Just a camera stager and then teleport to new location. These experiences could happen in the area several minutes and more than once before the actual crash. And always immediately before the crash before the rewrites.

I hope this information can help zero in on the cause of these errors. The last rewrite reset 2 weeks worth of work.

Thank you for continuing to support this amazing game,

Yeah, I had one MD5 error now after a hard reset as well. The odd part is that it only hit one location, as there were 2 of us on the map at the time.

Luckily, it was only at the entrance to my base, and not in a main area. Where I was clearing ground, a 36 block wide by 50 block long hole, 15 blocks deep, was not effected.

base wipes and crashes get worse

Ya it seems to get worse the after day 100, also crashes more when i have other players in my server. Have had 3 servers wipe my base at least in 1/2 and always my best saved loot seems to go with it. As far as crashes i will try to play a nice 4 hour sesh and it will crash at least once an hour. Can't the Xboxe one handle this game a bit better?

Unfortunately my last reset occured where I had dug a hole 40 blocks long, 20 blocks wide and 50 blocks deep. All with a pick axe. 75% of it is filled back in.

Come to think of it, 3 of the 4 MD5'S occured while I was below the surface level. Not sure if that has any relevance.

I have been pretty good with a pick axe, and once I lay out my pits can collapse them quickly.... Last collapse I had was awesome. Wish I recorded it as it went on for about 3-5 minutes, and i was stuck hiding in a little dug out cave watching it all go down.

Would hate to have to redo a pit though, and surprisingly the game didn't crash during it.

Hello all.

I know this is a known issue, just had it occur so I wanted to add my details to hopefully assist QA.

Platform: XB1 digital download.

World: Single Player. Random Gen.

Settings: All default with two exceptions (18 hours daylight, 60 minute days

Character: Chang

Day: 53

Time: appx 20:00

Summary: World terrain reset to day 1 state, wiping out player made structures.

Details: While digging a 3x3 hole straight up from appx 20 blocks deep, the game crashed as I hit the surface. However, instead of just instantly dropping me, the game seemed to hitch for appx 10 seconds and as I attempted to pull up my inventory I appeared to have a UI bug where the inventory screen came up, but did not actually show my inventory. Then the game crashed. I have never experienced that UI bug during crashes before. May be a coincidence but I thought it was worth pointing out.

Upon rebooting my character was standing in the same location and the last 4 or 5 blocks I had placed were rolled back/not there. They were placeable however and I was able to complete my structure. At this point I noticed my other player made structure which stood roughly 10-15 blocks away had been essentially cut in half. Part of it stood as it had been, part of it was reset to day 1 (loot able objects had returned that I had removed, etc).

Underneath this structure was a cave I had built that had storage and this was cut in half as well. Part remained with my player made objects, part was reverted to solid underground blocks.

I reloaded the game and the world was still in the reset state.

I believe that is all the detail I can provide, if clarification is needed please let me know. Thank you for all the work you guys and gals do on this project.

I had the exact same issues, I was playing split-screen with my wife when this has happened twice on two different random gens. The one way I know when it is fixing to crash is if I open my inventory or the forge etc and the menu shows an outline only. I have started turning it off as soon as I see that to try and avoid it resetting my map.

Surely this must be the crash solution!!!

XB1: Why can’t you patch the game to allow players a QUICK SAVE in game menu. WHEN the game does crash, as it always does, why not allow the player to continue from crash point OR revert to last quick save. At least a player has an option they would be happy to restart from, opposed to the “sucks to be you” glitches.

This does take away from the game pressure. But at least it’s a work around until the game is finally stable

Thanks for reading.. I guess.

Is there no update or information you can give us?

I'm really a bit turned off right now to this game and this development team.

I've suffered and struggled through over a dozen MD5's and still told everyone I know this is a great game and the best you can give us is "Just commenting to let you know I've read to this point"?

You could have at least let us know if it's a situation you can't grasp yet or SOMETHING.

Maybe I wasted my $30 after all, and I'll definitely quit suggesting friends buy this game. Definitely Unfortunate.

Is there anyone else we can lodge a complaint with, or are the consumers assed out now that you have our money?

Wow, it's Saturday night on a holiday weekend in North America. Calm down, the staff isn't on.

You're playing on console, TellTale games publishes that version, not TFP.

Creative mode

The only real way to play at this juncture is to play creative mode(cheat on) so you can rebuild at a moments notice after losing it all! I usually play creative to test new base designs, but all the terrain rewrites make playing any other mode right now not really survivable. Zeds arent the worry anymore, its a home to be safe in. Still in love with this game tho!

Take it easy people..

I decided to make an account here after many months of watching this space for updates ect.

I am so disgusted, and shocked at the amount of abuse Claire, and the team are receiving.

Please keep in mind these are actual people, with feelings.

I understand we're all a bit frustrated with bugs and glitches, but coming on here day after day insulting admins is not the way to go about it at all.

I for one have experienced many of the issues you all are having, but at the moment I'm not getting any major glitches. Just the usual crash after traveling a distance or being in a game for a long period of time.

As for those complaining about the price, it was what like £40 when it came out and now it's like £25 which is when most of you bought it! So quit your complaining, things come to those who wait. I understand we all paid for a game, and the service (updates) that come with it. But there is absolutely no need to be so rude.

couple of things Claire, 1st he did not start to broad cast till after the crash so when we reloaded in the damage was done. really nothing to look at but the building respawned back to day 1.

2nd thing been playing for about 5 hrs with a reg. remote and no problems. played with a elite remote and only got to play like hr and a half and game kicked me. not sure if is dum luck or what but thought I should let you guys know. I know Battlefield 1 had things set up so if you used the half trigger some guns would not work. Not sure if this is the case here but never know. We were getting kicked from his a lot not sure of the times but he is also using elite remote. ( he was hosting) hope I helped.

this is on xbox1 both have pretty much the same set up.

survival multiplayer (his was a private game)

navzgane

adventurer

please let me know if you need anything else.

Base reset and crash issues Xbox 1

Clare,

I have been recording times on how long between disconnects and base re spawns.

1h 20m

46m

1h

48m 43s

48m 19s

2 h two crashes

1h 16m

My wife's Xbox is the server. It feels like her xbox memory buffer may be filled as it crashes. Often she, a friend and I play together.

3 times we noticed the base reset. Once involving forges, two times near a cooking fires. The cooking fire resets were exactly in the same place.

The first base reset we were away from the base and thaught it was a lack of us being near the base. It reset our kitchen area about 20x20 and a second area including the silo tower outside the factory. Earlier she had placed a torch on the silo upper floor and part of the silo crashed. The reset caused it to be rebuilt.

The second time she was away and when we logged in to the base we noticed it gone. Same 20x20 area just the kitchen area not the silo.

The third time we were all at the base and were next to the reset area. About day 229. Interesting to note that this reset did not go into the basement tunnel we have just below. It is about a 20x20 area each reset, and includes various storage filled with materials, food, water.

This area is our third base. We have gone back to the other bases and have not seen any evidence of reset in those locations. Those location were most likely pre day 100.

Since the reset is repeatable I have been marking the areas with torches. So nobody puts anything of value there.

Regarding crash, I also noticed it would crash just as we were almost done looting after the 7th day zombie battles. This is very comon. Also after a crash the drops disappear. Often as we are running to them.

I did notice that on three occasions I had just opened the map and was waiting it to populate and she announced it crashed. Since I try to avoid using the map.

Also we have lost at least 10 minibikes after the crashes. Once when I looted my backpack after a death where my wife and I were fighting zombies and she accidentally hit a gas pump or drum and blew us up, I found a complete set of minibike parts in my bag.

My wife and I call this game Minecraft for adults. I also love the physics. I almost took down our factory while digging a basement and had not shorn up the walls.

I think everyone would love to hear and cheer on about the progress of the fix. Please let us know how things are going and if and which of the issues will be addressed when. Programmer videos are fun. I have been enjoying those.

I hope the patches won't require us to rebuild a new world like Minecraft does. Of course with the loss of so many resources and not seeing cars or iron re spawning, that may be a consideration.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Long time listener, first time caller...

here is my tale of whoa!

Platform: XB1 digital download.

World: Navezgane, Local Game, multi-player split-screen

Settings:

Difficulty: Scavenger

Zombies: Never Run

Aggression: Normal

Daylight Length: 18 hours

Enemy Spawn: Medium

Loot: 200%

24 hrs: 120 minutes

Character: Clint/Clayton + Grace/Angel

Day: 43/15

Time: appx 6:00am

Summary: MD5 error at center of map/ NW quadrant

Details: I have suffered the dread MD5 base killing glitch several times since the XBONE release of 7Days. I used to play solo, always played Clint, and always claim Spillway Lake Information Center as my main central base camp.

Lately, I’ve gotten my girlfriend involved and we play split screen Local Game while she learns the ropes. She originally played as Grace along with me as Clint, but with the addition of new character skins, now we play as Clayton and Angel. So, I don't think characters have much if anything to do with glitches any more...

In the past month or maybe 6 weeks, we have endured the MD5 glitch 3 times. Twice at the Spillway Lake Information Center building and once at Perishton, where the Shotgun Messiah suffered the glitch, resetting completely, taking with it the western wall of our base and loot from the adjoining building.

Perishton base perished on around Day 43, about the same time of day as the latest Spillway Info Center loss, sometime just after the Bloodmoon hoards, early morning the following day.

Another thing I recall is the glitch occurred in both recent incidences, at Perishton as well as Spillway, within a day following storing minibikes inside the buildings. If that matters. Seems weird to have been using minibikes freely around Perishton for a few days, then stored the bike at Shotgun Messiah to prepare for the Day 42 hoard, only to have the glitch happen within the day… and then to experience the same glitch at the same time of day, after the blood moon at Spillway Lake, following the Day 14 hoard, after similarly parking the minibike inside the Information Center.

I’m curious to know if the glitch happens exclusively to prefab buildings, or if folks who’ve built completely unique bases, not using any prefab walls or floors or anything, have also suffered the glitch. Must have missed those details in previous posts.

Also, does it make a difference if we craft and use our own storage crates, etc vs using the desk, safe, file cabinet and refrigerators included in the prefabs? Would loot and crafted crates stick better than reset prefab furniture?

I don’t mind the glitches and waiting for updates to the XBOne version, but trying to keep my gal happily content playing what she calls a ‘broken game’ isn’t much fun at all! If something isn’t done soon, I fear I shall be stuck watching Greys Anatomy with her, instead of killing zombies!!

Oh, the humanity!!

It has happened to me on a base built from scratch, I was on navsgane building in one of the smaller cornfields at the farm 25x25 concrete pillar 50 battleroom design. I was placing wood log spikes around it and upgrading them, another player was in the attic at the farm moving supplies, and a third player accidentally caused a collapse in the barn, which crashed the game. Upon reloading part of the attic(including forge cement mixer and storage), the barn, and half of the 7 day base all responded to day 1. Three separate chunks, all hard hitting losses
