Loadnabox
Do you happen to have X installed on the Linux machine? If so you could try installing the Steam client and check if it can find the server directly on there. So after installing the client on the local system it sees the following in favorites, but it doesn't see anything under the LAN tab 192.168.2.40:27015 < not responding > 192.168.2.40:26901 < not responding > I'm thinking this is one of several things then but I defer to your expertise alloc UDP packets are getting munged by network equipment (I'll be running a test in a bit after isolating two systems with a crossover cable after I make one) Configuration of the server is wrong somehow resulting in the not responding seen in the favorites list There's some other firewall settings I missed somehow on the linux server
Bertinator
You need 26900 through 26905, both TCP and UDP. If you need telnet or ftp ports open as well, these are listed in the serverconfig/xml file - defaults are 8081 and 8082 I think. Just 26900 isn't going to be enough to list the server, only allow connections to it. Why does it always have to be so complex? I opened ports, and looked over and over and over again for my server, and NOTHING EVER, I mean EVER shows up on the server list. I don't know why you can't just click on startserver yadda yadda, and it works?! It's NEVER simple. Sigh....!!!

Had ports open, restarted router. Then I noticed that the setting for listing the server wasn't set in the serversetting.xml file (I use a manager an not sure why it had randomly turned off). Once I enabled that setting, it showed up. Might be silly, but have you checked that option?
thesaintt
Ip for home/work lan On a home/work lan , in order to be show on ServerList your Dedicated server should run on first ip assigned for that lan. As of 192.168.0.x you must be 192.168.0.0 or 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.100. I worked 2 days for that sick problem. I made dedicated serv , worked fine for 4 days than stoped showing in server list . Tough on lan server list aperead . I just make the computer who run the server first ip on lan my was 192.168.0.100 and is back on line. I Hope it helps. (is just one solution who worked for me)

I guess you didn't have port forwarding setup in your router, or your first IP is by default a DMZ?
Spoutinwyze
On a home/work lan , in order to be show on ServerList your Dedicated server should run on first ip assigned for that lan. Tough on lan server list aperead . I just make the computer who run the server first ip on lan my was 192.168.0.100 and is back on line. I Hope it helps. (is just one solution who worked for me) Sorry but this doesn't make sense. Here's why; With the standard subnet mask /24 (ie: 255.255.255.0); - The network address will be the 0 (ex: 192.168.1.0) - The default gateway will be the first assignable IP (ex: 192.168.1.1) - The Broadcast address is 255 (ex: 192.168.1.255) Typically, the router is your default gateway, and a broadcast means any packet with destination ending in 255, will be delivered to every pc on that portion of the network. (the last octet in a standard subnet mask) If you meant the first assignable from the DHCP (if you're not using static internal - and i dont know whyyou wouldn't set a static IP for aserver or at least reserve in the DCHP list), then I already am (DHCP for my network is 192.168.0.10-192.168.0.140, with the server being 192.168.0.10 DHCP reserved on router and static set in windows 7) I am also having the issue of my server no longer listing in servers list. Long story short, I have confirmed my host, router, all have appropriate port-forwarding configured. I've even gone so far as to place in DMZ and disable windows firewall and antivirus for testing purposes. My logs on my host and router table show the ports are open, however external tests that port sniff, or telnet localhost 26900 fail. There is one single port in the desired range of 26900-26905 that is truly open, and that's 26901. So for now, Ive edited my serverconfig.xml file to use 26901, which will allow my friends and me to connect via external IP directly ONLY. I would like to have the server listed for new users to find my server but have been calling my ISP for 3 days (always busy and i lose cell signal in location before I'm top in queue) to ask if they are blocking these ports before they reach the demarc. (I have a feeling I'm going to get a front line service rep that will blow me off and give me the run-around with basic troubleshooting and port forwarding and will all be in vain.) Such a shame, i haven;t the funds for a rented server to avoid this hassle, but honestly there's no rhyme or reason my troubleshooting can uncover for these specific ports to remain blocked with such extensive care being taken. Update: ISP claims they block no ports/traffic (which was the only thing that made sense, why my server briefly showed then my port scans show it as closed externally. ) UPDATE: Disabled UPNP and now port scans show 26900 is open and the rest of my port forwarding rules working. However, still can only connect to my server using external IP. While I can now use the 26900 instead of 26901, the server fails to show in server listings, which is the goal here, to gain new players.
