A16 Survivor's Pack Starting Gear

your way worked for a day then next day it became random even though it's set to 600

had to go back to creating a template which is no biggy works like a charm :)

Survival Pack isn't working

 

Players who start off in the game (first time) will get a survivors backpack they can place on the ground and break to open. Inside the backpack they will find this loot:

 

1. One randomly selected shirt of various colors.

 

2. One randomly selected head item, be it a hat or bandana.

 

3. One randomly selected pair of pants. It tends to favor the plant fiber pants, however.

 

4. Worn boots. No more running barefoot!

 

5. One randomly selected common recipe book. Because anyone who's survived this long should know at least one of them, right?

 

6. Possibly one tool item, although this rare.

 

7. A painkiller, first aid kit, antibiotic and 3 bandages.

 

8. Two bottled water and two randomly selected cans of food.

 

9. A flashlight.

 

10. A sleeping bag.

 

11. A stone axe.

 

12. A randomly selected melee weapon.

 

13. A randomly selected range weapon. You're more than likely to get a bow with a few arrows but there is a small chance you'll get a crossbow/bolt or a pistol/ammo. Though again they're quite rare.

 

 

After looting from the survivor's pack it will explode to prevent any possibility of users exploiting the loot-respawn system.

 

 

This mainly geared towards servers as this only effects new players.

To add these to the list of items players spawn with you have to open your entityclasses.xml and add the block Survivor's Pack (Locked) to you playerMale and playerFemale's "ItemsOnEnterGame.GameModeSurvivalSP" and "ItemsOnEnterGame.GameModeSurvivalMP". I'd recommend removing the previous entries there (other than the keystone) since the pack already includes them.

 

If you don't know how to add a custom spawn item or need help let me know.

 

 

I installed this exactly they way you said. When I go to the game and rez the item on the ground I get 2 errors.

1st is for the locked pack.

>> ERR No loot entry defined for loot list id 180

2nd is for non locked pack

>> Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

 

I did a straight copy and paste without modding. What could cause these issues?

Sounds like you didn't add the loot.xml code to the loot.xml or added it incorrectly.

 

 

Share your loot.xml with pastebin and I'll take a look.

 

The code should be added down at the bottom of the file, above </lootcontainers>

I notice you're playing A15 Experimental. That is the issue. This mod was built for A14 and won't be made officially compatible with A15 until A15 officially releases to the stable branch.

 

If you want a quick fix though it is this:

 

<lootgroup name="Survival Crossbow" count="all">

<item name="crossbow" count="1" />

<item name="crossbowBolt" count="10" />

</lootgroup>

 

crossbowBolt no longer exists in A15. You'd have to change it to this:

<item name="ironCrossbowBolt" count="10" />

</lootgroup>

crossbowbolt is not in the game anymore. i dare say they have uncommented the crossbowbolt out and added it back in. but if you havent added it back in game then you will get errors

Went ahead and updated it to for A15 since its stable now. Also took the liberty to tidy up the code a bit while I was at it. Just to trim the fat.

Is there a way to do something similar to this on respawn not just first spawn? I ask because running ai bandits on my server almost need a pistol immediately lol

as it stands, no. you'll need to remove items no longer in the game from the loot group. or add all the items back. :crushed:

i reduced it to nothing and then added my own items. :smile-new:

I have fixed up the files a bit so they work in v16.3

Instructions:

- Make a copy/backup the follwoing files entityclasses.xml, blocks.xml & loot.xml

- Edit entityclasses.xml and look for 2 lines containing ItemsOnEnterGame

- Replace those 2 lines with the following:

"Value is to large".

 

You have set something to a value that cant be parsed in items.xml. either to large or not closed at a guess.

 

Review your changes.

thats not the actual error.. and I have no idea what went wrong. i wiped everything and started over. thanks.

yes, i fixed THIS error... this one was a stack size with too many zeros (blunderbuss at 6,000,000 anybody, lol)

 

I didnt come and edit the screen shot or delete the post .. I had a completely different error before and after this that only happened after editing the loot files and entity class files.
