Farmboy102
Hey guys I hope someone has had this issue before and can give some guidance, we have a weird one on our dedicated server, as of last night when players enter a specific chunk their client crashes immediately, one of our players has his base inside this chunk and because of the crashes he can't get back into the game. We have noticed that this issue started shortly after this player placed down a generator in his base, however we cannot say 100% that this is what is causing the problem. I've tried to enable debug mode but even then as soon as I enter the chunk the game crashes. If anyone on the server enters that chunk they crash. How can we go about investigating and fixing this issue, and as a temporary fix is there a way to move the spawn in location/co-ordinates of the player who is in that chunk while they are offline as currently the game crashes as soon as they spawn in
meganoth
Usually this means a specific region file in your save game got corrupted. Not because of the generator, but maybe because of a game crash or network failure or some other random failure. The savegame of 7D2D is special as it is constantly written to while you are playing. Makes it especially sensitive to crashes and all sorts of random errors. This is why it is a good idea to make a regular backup of the savegame. https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/19010-guide-how-to-reset-regions-parts-of-the-map/?tab=comments#comment-359622 has a slightly confusing description how you can identify the correct region to delete in the savegame. Make a backup (!!!!) and then just try to find the correct region file to delete. You can simply delete region files, then restart the game and check which area was reset until you find the right one, no need to be careful if you have a backup. Once you know the right file to delete, reload the backup, delete just this one region file and you are set. One guy will lose his base though. Farmboy102
Thank you very much, that link seems that it could be very useful, however we got it fixed a few minutes ago, seems it was something to do with the generator, as soon as we deleted the power file and its backup we were able to access the chunk agian. Jugginator
I would like to add that actually deleting region files isn't supported anymore, and it can lead to issues. There is a regionreset command in the F1 console that should be used instead. "help regionreset" for the command list
