Permadeath 2 IMPORTANT!

Recommended Posts

I suspect that the "delete all stuff everywhere" would be hard to accomplish. Items themselves do not have any sense of ownership as far as I'm aware. Only placed blocks/items (such as a storage container or vehicle). If a player places items in a container that existed in the world before or a container that they themselves did no place, then there is no way for the game to track that item and delete it.

I could be wrong, of course. But that's the understanding I have.

What could be done relatively easily would be to delete the stuff on you, disassociate you from your bed or destroy it, and destroy the latest land claim block you have placed.  That's about as good as it will be able to get easily.  They might also be able to find any containers you have locked and delete or empty them.  Aside from that, as was already said, I don't think there is anything else that can be associated with the player directly at the time of their death.

They might be able to spawn a 7 day horde at your previous bed and/or land claim block and set them to destroy mode permanently.  That might work.  :p

Delete all the stuff that player gathered everywhere! deat count must be zero always, Just complete fresh start from the same save.

This would require a complete reset of the map. In single player this would work but in multiplayer it is not feasible.

And why should it? You put a pile of wood into a bin, I find it and take it. What makes a difference if you're dead or not?

My post was in response to OP's issue. He wanted to destroy everything that the player has ever collected and stashed somewhere. And a complete reset would be the only feasible way. But as I already wrote this is not feasible in multiplayer for the reasons you mentioned.

I play "dead is dead" and make a new map everytime I die, so that basically deleting everything. I want each map to feel new. I get so much enjoyment out of the discovery aspect of the game.

I do the same, but i want an option for single player to complete reset the map so it saves me additional clicks

Rather than delete items, I like the idea of generating a zombie doppelganger of equivalent level as the player when they died.  The doppelganger defends the base and is tough to kill. Maybe even shoots back.  So if a player wants the stuff back. They'd best level back up and come prepared!

Of course, an obvious workaround is to leave stashes away from the base.  But a lot of any of these alternatives depends on players being disciplined enough to not game the system to circumvent permadeath.

After all, even a 'delete the save' option can be circumvented by maintaining a backup copy of the entire save folder.
