SmittenNightmares
Hi there, I've wandered over from Steam. After wandering through the discussion boards over there and seeing the whole complaining sessions that comprises of the place right now I thought to ask here. I know it's a strange ask, and my small wandering through the forums here for the past half hour kinda eluded to that tidbit as well since I haven't found a topic asking this yet. How can I turn off the new eating/drinking sounds in a21 as it is? Or at least change it back to the old sounds? Is there a way to do it? I have Misophonia, never used to trigger with the old sounds because they weren't so "in your face". The old sounds to me were akin to minecraft eating/drinking sounds and were an easy thing to get used to without triggering anything; Just a sound effect that gives to implication of an action. I have a wonderful 440 hours of gameplay prior to the beta test for A21. Now, with the new sounds I can barely get past the first half hour before I can't handle it anymore. I understand it's the immersion ones going for, and I mean that's a good thing if that's what one wants and I understand I'm a well, considerably a wuss that can't handle new sounds, but if there's any way to fix it I would be really grateful for any information. Thank you very much in advance
seven
Open Config\sounds.xml in a text editor. Search for "player_drinking" and "player_eating". Each will have a MaxVoices value. Change that to 0 and you won't have the sounds. You will need to repeat this after game updates, or create a modlet with these lines <set xpath="/Sounds/SoundDataNode[@name='player_drinking']/MaxVoices/@value">0</set> <set xpath="/Sounds/SoundDataNode[@name='player_eating']/MaxVoices/@value">0</set>

seven
You're welcome. I wish it was as easy to turn off some of the other sounds. I didn't mind the eating sounds in a20 at all, but these are a bit much so I did this myself. There is still some noise, like inventory open or something, but that part is fine.
