How do I move a savegame from Xbox Gamepass to Steam?

Hello,

I tried last time game save from Xbox Gamepass to Steam and I noticed that I have no access to my crate and for example the robot weapon is disabled, only I have my items and experience and that's it. Please help me so that I can access my crates again and everything works like on Xbox Gamepass.

With kind regards

Lukas

Did you copy your profile as well?  It sounds like you have a different profile and so those aren't marked as being yours.  But I haven't tried doing this, so it might be something else.

@Riamus Where is the profile data stored?

It is in the root of your saves folder - profiles.sdf.

I use two computers, Desktop and Laptop, to play the same playthrough, and all I have to sync is savegame and map. No profile. May be different with xbox though.

Are you syncing the entire Saves folder?  Your profile is in that folder so you would be syncing your profile.

I do now, since I sync my games automatically via Onedrive. But I very well remember the days when I ziped the savegame and the map every day to upload them myself. That was savegame only from 7daystodie/saves/world_name/game_name (and the map of course, but without the profile.sdf)

Hmm. Maybe it is something else then, though the game not knowing who owns the drone and chests suggests a profile problem to me.  Maybe it relates to whether or not you use persistent profiles.  I've never messed with that setting and don't really know the purpose.  Maybe having it either on our off will change whether or not the profiles file needs to be copied.

But like I said, maybe it is something else.  Worth trying, though. 😀

As far as I know, Microsoft/XBOX app stores your saves into a hidden folder which doesn't give the user access to naturally. You can get around this, but it requires some hacking around with the permissions. It may not be the same account as on Steam, which is why you would get a "new" profile when going back into the save. To solve that is pretty easy, just change the ID in the game save (in the players XML document located in the game save folder, you'll want to use the ID that Steam (EOS rather) makes in that list for your Steam account. That should work, in theory.

Take the yellow and replace the red with it, for example. players.xml in the saves folder

Yes, however, I can no longer access the boxes.
