Cursor locked in a grid bug (gamepad)

This is sending me completely bonkers and is making the game unplayable with a controller.  Yes I know half of you will say use the mouse and keyboard but because I have bad motor skills I found a game pad all the better.

 

Back to the topic.  I have no idea why this has started but when I try to use a controller it grid locks the cursor in a square and I am unable to move outside a certain point of the menu making it unplayable.  What I have tried so fair is:

 

1. Taking out the mods I have installed.
2. reinstalling the game.
3. fiddling with the UI controls.
4. restarting my computer.
5. verifying the files.

 

I will repeat this is a gamepad issue and not a mouse and keyboard issue.

I can't test it myself since I don't use a gamepad, but when I have seen this issue with a mouse in this and other games, it is usually a problem with Windows getting proper focus on the game window.  I've been able to solve it by using Alt-Tab to exit the game and again to go back into the game.  Might not help with your issue, but give it a try just in case.

I have sadly tried this but it doesnt seem to work.  It also happens randomly and as I stated makes the gaming experience quite difficult.
