OTH.Incognito
So, I was wondering if there is n actual "White River Community" in the game that we reach at some point. I have yet to play a character past level 80, and I have only gotten to tier 4 quests so far, so I have no idea if that even exists. Anyone able to answer this for me?
Mister Forgash
I think technically the traders count as the White River Community, but as a faction, there's no content as of yet as far as I've heard. So.. Technically yes, but to any meaningful, observable extent, no.

Just wondering if there have been any hints to suggest that in a future update. Sorry, I have only been playing a couple of months, still trying to get my base designs down right. Playing on the 10K map size so that I have more areas to explore.
Mister Forgash
The devs have expressed an interest in fleshing them out So that you have White River (traders) and Duke's [something] (bandits) I try to keep up to date and as far as I'm aware, there is much more to come regarding factions, such as determining whether or not they're welcoming/hostile and renting a costly stay overnight to ride out bloodmoons and probably much more. ..That said, everything so far suggests these features are still quite a ways out- Probably another year. -Keeping in mind I am in no way affiliated with TFP, my information is subject to be flawed, and I'm just a gamer that reads the forums often. Just when you might be thinking "I know how this is gonna go", you may be surprised. Personally, I find the super-large maps don't offer any gaming experience benefits apart from a lot of travelling, but that's my opinion. Wanna learn how things work? A small map will do. Then, once A21 is released, we'll have new experiences all over again. Don't feel shamed if you want to turn down the difficulty or even eliminate horde nights for some playthroughs. It's all part of the experience. What ever works for you. Oh, and regarding the game lore....its not important as yet. It's the behavior of the zombies that want to eat your face that you should be concerned about. Welcome to the community! Cool, I will keep that in mind. Thank you again for the reply and the info, that is actually interesting to hear about. I mean, I enjoy popping zombie heads in the red moonlight as much as the next guy, but I do have to admit it would be nice to be able to take a break once in a while at a settlement that can't be breached. So here's hoping they actually do add that in.

Yeah the 10K map was getting a bit tedious I found, just a lot more of the same everywhere. I lowered it down a little this time when I started again. I made the mistake of turning the XP up to 300%, and when I got to the 1st red moon, really wished I had not lol. Leveling up fast was fine, not having the weapons I put points into was not though. I tried running without zombies once, when I was trying a new build idea for a base and wanted to be able to focus on it. But after I finished the base I deleted the save; I found no zombies was really boring. Though admittedly, starting over after I die is getting harder to do (I mean, deleting my game saves and starting over again). I couldn't find a way to set the game up to do that on its own so I have been doing it. "Perma-death mode" I guess is what I am trying to play the game as. Makes me work really hard to not die lol. Melange
@OTH.IncognitoYeah upping the XP is probably not the best option. I find that keeping it at 200% or less won't be too much of a bite in the butt IF ya know where to put your skill points. On the other hand, I like to boost the loot bonus. 2X is nice if you are going to sell stuff (cash to buy Traders stuff). 1.5X works nicely as well. Otherwise you'll get there soon enough (but not soon enough, if ya get my meaning). I have no idea about what A21 will deliver, other than that it's not going to be what we've become used to. We'll all be in the same kettle when it's released. As for the Duke, well, I'd be surprised if he sticks his neck out in A21. Have a good time.
