bad performance with earlier builds

I might just be on a streak of bad luck.. but on both of my laptops, playing alpha 17.4 is extremely choppy. 

 

Can anyone confirm for me that downloading and installing 72d2 alpha 17.4  is playable 

17.4 used to be very smooth and playable, but the last  few times I've installed it via steam it has been very choppy

 

Nevermind.    I had thermal throttling issues with multiple laptops.     Bad luck.     17.4 runs fine
