Kam R.
Is this where I can vent about how the lockpicking system is a pure frustration generator? :]
Rotor
Funny thing, sorta. So I try not to use the trader, because well it doesnt feel right for the type of game I play. However, I feel is sometimes the anti RnGeezus. Like the game wants to force you to go see the trader hehe. Anyways, Jen finally had four. I bought them, took 3 to open the container at the tool PoI in the ceiling. Then I looted 3 from the shelves below, go figure. Furthermore the Butcher PoI with the big safe on the third floor, only used one, then the chest in the basement of that PoI ate the rest without popping. Rage against the machine doesn't even begin to explain it :).
Gamida
How far are you in game? Aren't we able to make lockpicks easily when we get forge? Or is it a mod I have been using. Back and forth so much between vanilla and modded my head is spinning lol. EDIT: ok also requires workbench which is not that far into game. My Vanilla recipe.xml file... <recipe name="resourceLockPick" count="1" craft_area="workbench" tags="learnable, workbenchCrafting"> <ingredient name="resourceForgedIron" count="1"/> <ingredient name="resourceMechanicalParts" count="1"/> </recipe> Edited June 21, 2022 by Gamida (see edit history)

IIRC, you need to spec into it (I don't think there is a standalone recipe). Of of the heist books might give it to you as well, but not 100% on that. Rotor
Yes, I see the recipee when I searched the book of knowledge in game. I am a slow progresser, I dont quest. Currently day 15 lvl or 7, forget with GS 12 or 14. Yes, I know, I am slooooow! Now that my bow skills are gated by the 2 point requirement in agility, I will be investing in engineering. Well, maybe after level up a little on trex :). 4 minutes ago, Syphon583 said: IIRC, you need to spec into it (I don't think there is a standalone recipe). Sorry, my reply was worded poorly. Since it's a craftable item of course there is a recipe. I think what I meant was that there is no standalone recipe book that is lootable or can be purchased. So the recipe is definitely tied to the spec. However, after doing a little digging I confirmed there are two ways to learn the recipe: Spec into the first level of Lock Picking (Perception) Complete The Great Heist book series That one point into Lock Picking also speeds up lock picking by 20% and lessens the chance of breaking a lock pick by 10%.
Star69
All you need is to spend one point to make lockpicks. Each lockpick requires one forged iron and one mechanical part and needs to be made at a workbench. It’s a point I spend early in the game and I carry about 40 with me. Rotor
It is two points min for me, the lockpick perk and the workbench perk . I have other priorities :). Heck I dont have forge yet. OH, and shouldnt it like a coat hanger and paperclip? McGyver would not approve of forged iron :).
