Need help with startdedicated.bat (initial ded. server startup). Can't find '7DaysToDie'...

Hello everyone, 

 

I know this is most likely an easy one for you guys. I am getting back into running a server again, it's been a little over a year since I've had one. I've got Covid right now, so I thought I'd finally get back to setting up the old server. This simple error on startup is driving me nuts. I remember getting it back then, but for the life of me can not figure it out again. I've done the basic steps that I've found online but no luck. 

Currently, I have a separate folder with the 7DTD dedicated server installed by SteamCMD. The serverconfig.xml and startdedicated.bat are still in their default state. When I go to start the batch file I get, "Windows cannot find '7DaysaToDie'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again." I run it as administrator with the same result. I am also getting no ouput.log files to chase the error as I remembered doing in the past. Is this a directory location thing or what? 

 

What can I provide to help you all help me, remember I have no log files showing up after attempting to start up server. 

 

- I'm running the latest version of 7DTD

- the location of server files is "C:\Program Files\Servers\7DaysToDieServer"

- the StartDedicated.bat is in it's default state. 

- I've tried to install a fresh copy in a different location and get the result. 

- 

 

I'm sure there is a topic out there that can help, I'm just not searching for the right topic, or just plain can't find it.

Is that correct or a typo?  If not, it is looking for something called 7DaysaToDie.  There is an extra a in there.

 

Hope your Covid is the minor type.

Sorry about that, it's a typo in my post. 

 

Yes, so far it's been fairly minor. Hope is stays that way. Thanks!

What happens if you start the server directly, without using the batch file?

You can start it from a command prompt with "7DaysToDieServer -configfile=serverconfig.xml"
